IT Specialist Program

Program Overview

The information technology specialist certificate and associate programs teach students how to use, support, implement, and troubleshoot the computer and information technology systems found in educational, governmental and corporate settings. Distance Education

Both the Certificate and the Associate Degree can be earned either in face-to-face classes or fully on-line classes or by a combination of the two.

Certificate

The certificate program focuses on teaching students the foundation-level skills required to effectively use and troubleshoot computer and information technology systems. In addition, students completing the certificate program will be prepared for entry-level IT positions and to continue their education in the Information Technology Specialist associate degree program.

Associate Degree

The associate degree program prepares individuals to implement, support, and troubleshoot computer and information technology systems and obtain employment as an IT professional. The following concentrations are available through the associate degree program:

    • Computing Technology

    • Network and System Administration

    • Cybersecurity and Network Administration

Industry Certification

The IT Specialist program also offers courses to help prepare for industry certifications. Degree seeking students can use these courses to meet degree requirements and non-degree seeking students can enroll in individual courses to help prepare for industry certification. Courses related to the following certifications are offered through the IT Specialist program:

    • CompTIA: A+, Network+ Security+, Server+

    • Cisco Systems: CCNA

    • Microsoft: MTA, MCSA, MCSE

    • EC-Council: CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), LPT (Licensed Penetration Tester)

    • AWS: Cloud Foundation

Advising

Students entering either the certificate or associate degree program should meet with a faculty adviser to discuss program content requirements and develop an educational plan that matches the current skills and goals of the student.
