Hello friends,
I tend to get many questions about accessing different current publications, like the New York Times, Boston Globe, Wall Street Journal, Consumer Reports, etc. While I cannot provide access through our library to all of these, I do want to let you know what we have, and also make sure you're aware of how much you (and your students) can access through the Boston Public Library with an ecard.
Access the Boston Globe and New York Times through Gale. You'll find them on our A-Z Databases list (on the E-Resources page, under Research Corner). The downside is that you can't browse the current issues, but you can search for articles.
Science News; sign-in with your abschools account for full access .
Flipster Digital Magazine Subscriptions, found on both the library homepage and E-Resources page. We've expanded our titles this year. Use the log-in information provided on the website to browse and search full current and back issues of Time, Essence, Native Max, Advocate, Diversity in STEAM, Ability, MIT Technology Review, Rolling Stone, High-Five Bilingue, People en Espanol, The Atlantic, Newsweek, The New Yorker, and Creative Nonfiction.
Boston Public Library Online Resources:
With a BPL ecard, you can access tons of publications, including current subscriptions to the New York Times and Wall Street Journal (under Newspapers). You'll also see a database called Press Reader, which has tons of magazines and newspapers, including international publications. The BPL also has Flipster and Overdrive magazines, and I was able to access Consumer Reports there, as well.
I'm more than happy to help folks out if you'd like or need some step-by-step guidance. Please let me know if you have any questions!
Best,
Anna Secino
