5 Signs it is time to seek out a Counselor
1. You're feeling overwhelmed, stressed out, or just not like yourself
2. Nothing you've tried seems to have helped
3. Your friends (or family) are not able to support you in the way you need it
4. You start overusing or abusing something (or someone) as a solution
5. People close to you have voiced their concerns for you
How can your School Counselor help?
School counselors can help in a variety of ways. Most topics discussed with a school counselor fall into one of three areas:
Academic Counseling: scheduling, forecasting, graduation progress, grades
Personal/Social Counseling: tough life situations that may make it difficult to stay focused in class or on academics, mental health issues, relationship trouble, bullying, dealing with stress
College/Career Counseling: planning for life after high school, resumes, letter of recommendation, college applications, etc.
While your counselor may reach out to you from time to time, if you have a question or need help with anything, it's up to you to let your counselor know. Don't hesitate to reach out. Your counselor is there for you!
