MHS offers opportunities for students to earn college credits while in high school:
Expanded Options- Juniors and Seniors who have signed up by May 1st of the previous year are able to take classes at COCC while still in high school. Classes offered at MHS are not approved to be taken at COCC (because we already offer them!), but students may take any in-person class that COCC offers that we do not have.
College Now- Many of our teachers are partnered with community colleges in Oregon so that students may choose to pay for college credit while taking classes at our high school. These credits are typically a small fraction of the price they would be if students took them at the college. Students can earn college credits in classes they already want to take for their high school diploma without having to leave MHS.
Advanced Placement (AP)- Student who take AP classes at MHS have the option to sign up for AP exams in the Spring. Many colleges accept passing AP exam scores and allow students to transfer in with college credits already completed. This saves the student time (they won't have to take that class in college) and money (AP exams are a fraction of the cost of what a class would cost).
