The Fund for Oregon Rural Journalism (FORJ) is a 501c3 founded to support and grow rural journalism.
The Future Journalists of America is a paid internship program that embeds high school students in newsrooms to learn media literacy and journalism skills, report community news and learn modern techniques to operate a sustainable digital publication.
· Work with your peers for Central Oregon’s first regional youth digital publication · Report community news from a fresh, youthful perspective and have an impact on issues that matter to you and your peers · Be the next First Amendment defenders, and protect an informed democracy · Question those in authority, be nosey and shine a light on rights and wrongs in your community · Work directly with professional journalists in newsrooms throughout Central Oregon and learn from UO professors and other journalism experts · Learn how to successfully run a digital news publication · Hone your news literacy skills and take the lessons back to your peers · Learn hands-on journalism by being a reporter, photographer or videographer.
