Community Outreach

Our 2023-2024 Initiative will be to develop partners in the community to collaborate with us for our summer apprenticeship programs.

2022-2023
Blessing Box

Mission: At the Higher Achievers Program we not only strive to mold great leaders out of today's youth, but to also give back to our community. This Spring, we are introducing our new outreach project, The Blessing Box.

About the Blessing Box: The Blessing Box will act as a self-servivce food bank. The box will be stocked with dried and canned foods as well as personal hygiene items. The idea behind the box is to allow individuals who need access to the goods to visit and take what they need. The box is an effort to elimilinate some of the stigma of shame or embarrassment that can come with having to access a food bank. As well, we hope that individuals that are able to donate can donate goods to the box.

Partnerships: To ensure that the Blessing Box is always stocked the HAP will be partnering with organizations on Georgia College's campus. We are so excited to partner with student led organizations and grow our relationships on GCSU's campus.

The High Achievers wanted to engage the community for this 2023 holiday season.  We had a canned food drive and donated to Cafe' Central (Milledgeville Soup Kitchen).  Pictured are Jim Humphries, Chef of Cafe' Central, and Kenneth W. Daniels, HAP Program Coordinator.
