Caleb Domsey Business and eLearning Librarian at Humber College

Caleb is a librarian at Humber College. He spends his days reading up on eLearning best practices, experimenting with technology, and supporting other staff with their eLearning ideas. He also works as a Liaison to The Business School at Humber who he supports with in-class and online instruction and through collection development.

Ariana Ferrone Librarian at the Toronto Public Library

When Ariana isn’t advocating for more inclusivity and diversity in her library, she is writing young adult fiction and possibly fighting evil by moonlight. In the past, she’s worked as a Resource Coordinator for Kids Help Phone and a Digital Media Specialist at Innisfil Public Library. More recently, she lived in Australia and wrote a novel. Her current role as in-charge Librarian for one of the Toronto Public Library’s neighbourhood branches has been her biggest challenge yet.

Kristina Fry Information Management & Research Specialist at the Gordon Foundation

Kristina received her MLIS in 2014 from the University of Western Ontario with a concentration in information organization and design. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology. During her time at Western, her coursework and research focused on social inequality, local government, information policy, and access to information. Kristina has experience working in the private, public and not-for-profit sector, and is passionate about programs and projects that focus on expanding the dissemination of information to peoples and communities that currently have little access.

Daphne Horne Information Specialist at Mount Sinai Hospital

Daphne has worked at Mount Sinai Hospital for 4 years, supporting medical staff and doctors with literature and systematic review searches. More recently she has participated in the launching of the Patient Education Pavilion, a space that helps patients and families search for reliable on-line health information. She has presented at the Ontario Library Association Conference, and published in the Journal of Canadian Health Libraries Association.

Joanna Kozakiewicz Reference and Training Librarian at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP

Joanna currently works as the Librarian, Reference & Training at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt, a national law firm. She is responsible for the Library’s training program which includes providing orientation and legal research training to new students and lawyers. She also provides both legal and business reference and research services at the library reference desk. Before pursuing her MLIS at the University of Western Ontario, Joanna practiced law at Legal Aid Ontario-funded community legal clinics.

Chris Landry Scholarly Communications Librarian at OCAD University

Chris is a Scholarly Communications Librarian at OCAD University. He was hired as part of OCULA’s New Librarian Residency program. Before coming to OCAD U, Chris was a summer student at the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer where he assisted with literature reviews. Prior to his work at the Partnership, Chris was a Co-op Librarian at The University of Guelph. His interests include developments in the international open access movement, copyright, information literacy, and zines in libraries.

Sarah Morrison Knowledge Management & Information Specialist at RGA (Reinsurance Group of America) International

As part of RGA’s Global Research & Development team, Sarah is working toward expanding RGA’s knowledge management capabilities. Her tasks include SharePoint building and training, Yammer group development and support, insurance market environment monitoring, technical documentation creation, content management, ad-hoc research, and KM consulting within the company. She graduated in 2015 with an MLIS from the University of Western Ontario. In her spare time, she enjoys reading non-fiction ebooks, obsessing over the Marvel cinematic universe, and playing with any new piece of technology she can get her hands on. Cristina Naccarato Development Researcher at the Art Gallery of Ontario

Cristina can typically be found with a camera or guitar in hand. She holds two Masters degrees, one in English Literature and one in Library Science. Cristina got her start in Prospect Research as an Intern at St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation and quickly realized the fast-paced and ever-changing environment of a fundraising office is where she wanted to be. She found a job perfectly marrying her love of art and fundraising research in June 2014 and has been the Art Gallery of Ontario’s Development Researcher ever since.

Emily Porta Scrum Master at Rangle.io

A graduate of the University of Toronto iSchool (2013), Emily currently works as a Scrum Master for Rangle.io, a thriving Javascript development shop in downtown Toronto. After several contracts in the library world, she jumped ship into web development and couldn’t be happier. She’s passionate about getting more women into technology, leading Rangle’s new Women in Software initiative, and serves as a lead instructor at Ladies Learning Code in her off hours.

Ashley Shiflett McBrayne Library Associate for Archival and Special Collections at the University of Guelph

Ashley works in Archival & Special Collections at the University of Guelph. Her current role involves processing archival collections, rare book cataloguing, providing reference and research services, managing social media accounts, and working on special projects such as exhibits and various outreach activities. Ashley received her Masters of Arts in History from the University of Guelph in 2008 and her MLIS from the University of Western Ontario in 2009. In addition to her work with special collections, Ashley also has 5 years of experience in Prospect Research and Development in Higher Education.

Mari Vihuri e-Book Coordinator & e-AODA Research Associate at the Ontario Colleges Library Service

Mari works at the Ontario Colleges Library Service (OCLS) on ebooks, accessibility, and whatever other projects come her way. Prior to joining OCLS, she worked at Scholars Portal, Gerstein Library at the University of Toronto, and McGill Library. Lately she’s been teaching herself Python to wrangle usage data and trying to apply user experience design to improve library resources and services. She has a Twitter account and occasionally tweets.
