Role of the Student Member

The Student Board Member is an elected 11th or 12th grade student within the school system. The role of the Student Board Member is to represent the 27,000+ students within Charles County Public Schools and to provide student opinion and advisement on educational policy passed through the Board of Education.

The student serves as an official member of the Board of Education and serves a one-year (1) term. Dependent upon the student's election year, the student may be re-elected for a second term.


The current Student Board Member, Mr. DeJuan Woods Jr., was elected on May 3rd, 2019. at the last Charles County Association of Student Councils (CCASC) meeting of the year. He was officially sworn into office on Tuesday, June 11th, 2019 by Board Chairman Virginia McGraw.
