Current Research Projects

If you're interested in supporting current BFO genealogical research, please consider contributing financially to the BFO which is currently supporting research in the following areas:

1.)  Identify and document the ancestors, descendants and relatives of Richard Brough (1786-1873) and Mary Horleston (1795-1879) of Staffordshire, England.

2.)  Identify and document the ancestors and descendants of the Brough's of the British Isles, with particular emphasis on the lineages already outlined in the Histories and Genealogies portions of this website.

These research projects sometimes requires hiring professional genealogists to review records in the British Isles, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States, as well as the need to subscribe to online databases or purchase documents not freely available through FamilySearch

The BFO Board of Trustees and Executive Officers encourages every BFO related parent or grandparent organization to try and raise $100 or more than can be donated annually toward such research projects. Of course all financial donations--large or small--are always welcomed and greatly appreciated and are tax-deductible in the United States. As always, please send your donations by check to: BFO Secretary, Janene Brough Wood, 115 East 800 North, Bountiful, Utah, 84010, USA.  Contribute directly to the BFO via PayPal.

3) Document with sources and clean-up or merge "duplicate" ancestors and relatives on FamilySearch Tree.

4) Financially contribute to the BFO and its many global research projects.  Contribute directly to the BFO via PayPal.

How the BFO documents individuals listed on FamilySearch

The Brough Family Organization (BFO) enters detailed genealogical information on deceased individuals who are listed in FamilySearch (FS).  Because anyone who has a FamilySearch (FS) account can add or change genealogical information on deceased individuals in FS, the BFO lists specific information and sources in the note boxes under the birth, christening, marriage, death and burial listings for each individual and also as a separate "Research Note" under the "Collaborate" tab for each individual.  This is done to eliminate mistakes, increase credibility and encourage others to carefully review what they think may need to be changed before doing so.  An example of how the BFO documents individuals on FamilySearch is shown below.
