Painting

Wet on Wet Painting Procedures:

  1. Soak one sheet of painting paper in a plastic dishpan or clean sink with a flat bottom. Soaking should be for at least 10 minutes.

  2. Have your child put their apron on with ties behind them.

  3. While the paper is soaking, prepare paints. The paints you have are concentrated and will need to be thoroughly mixed before making your paint mix. Take one teaspoon of concentrate and put it into the lidded small plastic containers. Add a teaspoon of water. Color specifications will be given weekly.

  4. Lift painting paper and allow it to drip into the bin. Lay the paper, rough side up, on the painting board. Wipe down the paper with the wet sponge to take up excess water. Remove sponge from the area, so you do not get paint on it.

  5. Prepare the painting space by putting paints to the side of the painting board along with a pint jar of water and a dry brush.

  6. Never leave the brush in the water.

  7. Painting is best done standing up for greater arm extention.

  8. I will then walk the children through painting lessons over Zoom. Caregivers can also walk children through painting with indications from the weekly curriculum.

Special Notes:

  • Take great care to wash the brush between colors when more than one color is used.

  • The brush is pulled across the page rather than pushed.

  • Clean the brush thoroughly after painting and allow it to dry laying down. Never bristles up, the water gets trapped, and the brush will fall off the stick.

  • Dry painting can be photographed and stored in art portfolio provided.

August 25 ~ Painting ~ With Red

Once there was a beautiful apple tree with pink blossoms. And underneath the blossoms, the baby fruit was growing. The apples grew and grew and ripened in the sun until the tree was covered in shiny red apples!
