Ms. Suzanne ~ Dragonfly Assistant

Dragonfly Kindergarten

Ms. Morrisseau is going into her eleventh year with SunRidge School. She began as an assistant in first and second grades. While assisting she began her California Credential and Waldorf Certification. She then went on to co-teach third grade and teach the same class full time for fourth and fifth grade. She taught first and then moved to the kindergarten, where she has taught for the last three years.

She earned a BA in Theater Arts from San Francisco State, a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from the Cal State Teach Program, and her Waldorf Certification from Rudolf Steiner College. In between she took many classes and trainings in child development, massage certification, doula support, and handwork.

Ms. Morrisseau grew up in Texas until she was twelve. At which time, she and her mother moved to Northern California. She graduated from San Rafael High School and then lived in Santa Cruz where she did the majority of her undergraduate work and met her husband of now almost 25 years. Together, they moved back to Marin in 1995 and then to Sonoma County in 2002. Her two children graduated from SunRidge in 2015 and 2018.

In her spare time, Ms. Morrisseau likes to do handwork of all kinds, sing, put her feet in the river, and spending time with her family.

I am entering my 13th year as a teacher's assistant at Sunridge school. This will be my 6th year as a kindergarten aide.

I became acquainted with Waldorf education as a young woman who wanted to have children.

I looked at that desire and distilled it to an interest in guiding a young being in life. I realized that teaching was also a vehicle for that endeavor.

Toward the end of my Waldorf teacher training, I became pregnant and was blessed to have a solid education to prepare me for parenting. My two children were mostly Waldorf educated through the grades. My younger daughter graduated from Sunridge in 2013.

I was born and raised in the Chicago area. I went to HS in Oak Park Illinois.

In my twenties, I became a certified massage therapist in Boulder, Colorado. I practiced Shiatsu massage at Two Bunch Palms resort in Desert Hot Springs California and LA.

After moving to Sonoma County, I completed further early childhood education and am a certified Lifeways graduate.

I've taken several classes at the Santa Rosa JC. Some of my favorites were Child Development, Creative Writing, and Floral Design.

My husband and I love to travel. We are particularly fond of Kauai.

I enjoy working in our beautiful garden in Occidental and arranging flowers from it.

I recently rediscovered Qi Gong and it has become a favorite form of movement.

I have been actively studying and practicing spirituality for 25 years.
