Isn't multiplication and division a primary skill?

Yes - the foundations of these essential skills are embedded in primary school. However, knowledge needs to be maintained, in essence, - 'if you don't use it you lose it'! Analysis of national numeracy test questions showed that many students are making basic errors in multiplication and division. This has highlighted a need for us to re-visit these skills as a school and provide opportunities in classrooms for students to use them more often.
