DIY Venting

Riding along and the bike starts to act like you've just hit reserve (but you know you've got plenty of gas left? Stop in the middle of a ride to get a snack and come back out to bike that will crank but not start? Try taking off and replacing your gas cap - you may find that the problem goes away. If it does, it means you may need to vent the gas cap.

Note: Some changes on newer models - reported by Dish79:

"09" Classic, I recently went to vent gas cap. In the KB it says there is a bullet shaped plug under the solid Y plug that should b removed. Mine had a small ball bearing under that side & a small almost cotton looking filter under the Y plug w/ hole in it. I'm guessing this was an attempt at fixing the venting problem? I removed the ball bearing & I haven't had an issue with venting since.
