Using A Motorcycle Jack / Lift

The design of the V Star 1100 can create an issue when using a jack to lift the motorcycle. A portion of the engine protrudes below the frame and allows the motorcycle to rock back and forth. This is obviously not a good, safe way to raise the motorcycle.

There are several ways to eliminate this situation. One is to simply use a couple small piece of 1"X 4" under the frame to take up the gap. The other is to use 3 hockey pucks to do the same thing. It's easy and will hold the motorcycle securely.

If you want to take things a step further, below is a link to the instructions for building a V Star 1100 adapter for a Harbor Freight motorcycle jack.

The LEVER LIFT - an inexpensive and safe way to lift your bike. It uses simple leverage to lift the bike. One can be made out of heavy lumber but steel is the preferred material. There are internet sites that sell them, usually under $50.

I've had good luck simply using a 6" length of 1X4 under the right side of the frame on the jack or lift. It seems to take just about all the wobble out and holds everything securely. - Sick Mick
