Professional Experience

Booz Allen Hamilton, Incorporated – Eatontown, New Jersey Senior Consultant 1998 - 2003

Project Manager of a major communications upgrade for the INS New York City office. Budget: $2 million; Staff: 4.

Ensured smooth client moves and phone cutovers of up to 200 at a time (total 1100+). Reduced cutover delays by 30% by improving the process in vendor and client coordination. Provided client with advanced features compared to previous analog system. Earned company award for excellent performance.

Assistant Manager for a data and telecommunication upgrade in the SSA’s datacenter. Budget: $1.5 million; Staff: 5.

Successfully updated 2,000 lines and ten wiring closets with no production downtime. On client request compressed starting schedule by two months post-contract signing. Finished ahead of schedule and under budget.

System and Network Administrator for the internal research, development and testing lab. Saved various projects $2,000 a month in setup, administration, and support costs. Saved $20,000+ by repairing and re-tasking older hardware. Secured three projects worth a total of $50,000 by providing a readily customizable test bed. Also was an assistant for general office technical support.

Network Design Engineer for the 2nd Avenue Subway Project in New York City. Designed LAN and WAN with COTS hardware in mind to cut costs and ensure compatibility with current systems and provide features for future growth. Liaison with MTA clients, control, power and signaling working groups to ensure full end-to-end functionality, enabling planned future improvements without additional costs.

Operations Support for several Army field tests and exercises. Worked with field officers in real-time to restore and sustain lost communications links. Maintained 95%+ uptime. Provided troubleshooting support for new field systems. Trained civilian operators for rollout of new data management system. Received two Army performance awards.

System and Network Engineer building a custom WLAN and packet radio system to field test an Army signal triangulation/tracker. The system included a customized version of DOS, a Java-based webserver, FTP server, GPS receiver, WLAN SW/HW, and the packet radio (NovaRoam).

Network Engineer to determine requirement and develop recommendations for the Army’s Flying LAN and Mobile Secure WLAN.

Test Engineer for beta testing of a new version of software (TMNI) for military satellite network management.

Network Engineer for comparative analysis of enterprise and network management software. Tested software included Tivoli, Unicenter, OpenView, and Patrol. Developed recommendations for the Army RDEC, S&TCD.

Design Engineer on proposal for the network portion of the Army’s Objective Force Warrior. Proposal accepted.

Other Projects:

· Inventoried the communication assets in all federal government buildings in Manhattan for the Metropolitan Acquisition Act.

· Developed recommendations for the National Guard and Homeland Security office post-9/11. The report suggested improvements to communication systems for first responders.

· Participated in AT&T’s Tivoli rollout. The project involved pushing the Tivoli end-user client software to ~100,000 nodes. Refined various scripts to increase the speed of client deployment.

· Monitored networks at Fort Detrick (Army Medical Command) and Fort McPherson (Army FORSCOM) with Tivoli. Included troubleshooting and developing action rules.

· Worked with Sprint developing metrics for their DSL program deployment. Reduced customer installation time by 80% after one month of instituting recommendations.

· Developed white papers on various topics for clients, including encryption security, LAN/WAN, VoIP, and next generation networks.
