Crew members will begin their 7-day canoe trek from the Ely, Minnesota base and paddle the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. With lakes stretching as far as the eye can see, all connected through a large web of waterways, Scouts can travel effortlessly across them in specially designed tripping canoes. Completing short portages between waterways brings scouts from lake to lake as they explore the vast biodiversity of the Northern Boreal Forest unique to Northern Minnesota and Canad

Summer 2024
Crew members will experience a 50-mile paddle trek on the New River. Theywill navigate the upper portion of the river in inflatable kayaks (one or two-man) called “duckies”. This portion of the river includes Class I to III rapids. The final whitewater day in the Lower Canyon is a rafting experience and includes Class III to IV rapids. The trek is lead by experienced whitewater rafting teams to ensure the safety of the trip. Crews camp along the river through the New River Gorge. A gear boat (raft) accompanies the group to transport gear and food.
