Fashion Counter Glitch:

Commented to me by yummyyummies [though various others have mentioned it on the forums]:

With the current bug [which I wouldn't bet good money on that it'll be fixed... at least not for a long while], the makeup counter likes to be the first thing you tend to when you enter your store. if you have done other activities in your store (e.g. collecting tips, ordering clothes), to prevent getting coins when your makeup counter item is ready, exit your store (e.g. visit a neighbor). You can go then go to your boutique and collect your makeup counter item. It shouldn't turn to coins.

[I have also read that going into Design mode works. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.]

Zee_Zatara's Take on the Makeup Counter

CONS:

1. Costs 36 gems.

2. Looks like a pile of junk in your boutique until you build it, and you even can't put it in storage until it is built. [Though you could sell it while waiting on requests but it would cost 36G to get again... xD.]

3. You need 40 materials from neighbors or 80 gems [2 per material] in order to build it.

4. Only 1 makeup catalog in it so far.

5. It has its own ordering slot and currently only 1.

6. Suffers from a glitch that can turn your items into coins when you try to place the item. [Read above for suggestions on how-to prevent it.]

7. 2012 Valentine catalog has 2 makeup items in it, so makeup items are not as unique as they once were.

PROS:

1. Lacy gold Victorian-style counter with mirror looks really nice in your boutique.

2. If you have the neighbors, you can maximally receive 20 materials through requests and it'll only take minimally 4 days to build.

3. It has its own ordering slot,so it doesn't take up any of your normal ordering slots when ordering from it.

4. Catalog items only take 1 hour to order.

5. Until fixed, the glitch can be worked around by going in and out of design mode before placing item in your boutique. [Or making sure it's the first thing you in store.]

6. The 4 makeup items also look really nice in your boutique, especially when displayed on gold or glass tables.

7. The makeup from the makeup counter still looks different from the Valentine makeup and can't be ordered anywhere else.
