Took Dr Cooper 100 bundles of rye straw to fulfill contract on colt bought of him. Cleaned up around barn and drew fine straw over for bedding. PM frank plowed in back horsefield. I took my clock and fathers to Mr Ayers for repairs. Got some old tax receipts of father and hunted __?__ back to 1879 for P Sutton.
Tues 15 Dec
Nice day. I filled ditch and handled some stone in wall and off the ground. Frank plowed afternoon. We cleaned fathers oats before dinner.
Wed 16 Dec
I drove to D W Laruns(Lawrance?) and __?__ place. Got none. There was a young man but Mrs Landman said he belonged to Scranton.
Was at the polls a short time at noon and went up again at night. Cold & muddy.
Thurs 17 Dec
Little warmer. Cleaned some rye - Frank took father 12 bu that we borrowed of him to sow. At noon went to polls and again tonight.

Frank went to Scranton. Butter 20; Eggs 20c;He brought a ton chest coal for father. 2.30 +1.50 = 3.85.
I returned my register with 246 names. Recd for 246 names 14.76; copy one book 1.23; 2 days at poll & one return day $6.00 and 25 cents for paying for oath - $23.24 amt received. Deposited $15.00 in Bank. Frank got 2.00 from Mrs Sullivan and 3.00 from woman at next door.
Sat 19
Was to N G Reeds and made 15.00 insurance on his house and its contents and in afternoon to C V Deckers and wrote him 15.00 on his barn and its contents - $12.00 on reed's house - 9.00 Decker barn - made assessment there.
Frank brought manure from F Stetters and took them 25 bundles straw to pay for manure.

Spent 1/2 day in Shook district making assessments.
Tues 22
Was in Shook district assessing. Stopped with L B Ayers. Brought home our clock & fathers. Paid him 50c each for fixing them Snowed some in afternoon.
Sent my resignation this morning to Ins. Co Clarks Summit asking them for my regisnation. Reeds & Deckers application in the same letter.
Wed 23 Dec
Frank setled with C Snover. Paid him $2.90 - worked some on assessment, erasing names &C. Wrote to Comm. John Coon's assessment and Friars mill.
Thurs 24 Dec
Was cold and i did not go out. Boys fixed horse stable with straw. Took c__?__ to have shoe changed.

Last night they had Christmas tree at M E Ch; and an oyster supper after that. We are not doing anything but setting around the house. Warmer than yesterday. Yesterday morning therm. about zero. Today 20 above with sun shinning brightly. J C Newman brought his paper here for state tax.

About 9 o'clock John took me to Geo Shelly's & Dave Kresge's and back to T C Bonoman's. I then back to P Aten's to Jim McNamara's to Anna Winters to Whitlocks to Kischins to M Winter's to John Hice's, home. Making assessments.

I made assessment from home to Jos Lacoe's to R Cooper's. Kate Thompson's place, to J J Cah__?__, to C Buskirks home - Boys got out some ties for market to get coal with or __?_ __?__.

John last night brought a Beagle hound from C Decker's. Charley gave it to him. He is now 11 months old.

I was out making out assessment. From W A Lacoes'to E A Smiths to Harry Smith 's, home. Had controversy with Jerome Smith about a dog he did not own. Said it was a dog that came there. I told him it get clear of it by the 15 of Jany or I would assess it.
Frank went to Pittston this afternoon to stay a few days.
