United States Census

for Newton and Ransom Townships

The following censuses have been transcribed by volunteering researchers.

All their hard work is greatly appreciated

Volunteer Transcribers Needed!

If you would like to transcribe as well, please email me

How the transcribing works:

Browse the census on the HeritageQuest site (see if your local library allows you to access it for free even from home). Put in date, state, county, then choose Newton or Ransom. Remember Ransom was part of Luzerne, Newton also part of Luzerne, both became part of Lackawanna when that was formed.

Open the word document that I send you. All you need to do is type in the information from the census into the chart and don't forget to save.

Send that document when you are done and then I will be able to place it on the Newton and Ransom Site.

When I do it, I have each window as the size of my screen. Then place one on the top and other on the bottom.

Dot says she downloaded the census page, enlarged it 300% and printed it landscape, and it is very easy to read.
