BIRD GARDEN Plants

MNGI has collaborated with the local Audubon Society and NC Arboretum to effectively design this educational garden.  Our sponsors for this garden are the Rotary Club of Madison County and Friends of the Madison County Library.

Please note that water, food, and shelter are included in this bird friendly garden where you can watch, enjoy, and learn about plants that attract birds.  We have displays of how to build nesting boxes for native birds, and educational information about how climate change is stressing our native bird populations.

Here's what has been planted in the bird garden...

SLOPE MEADOW PERENNIALS & GRASSES:

During November, 2017 seed bombs were scattered on the slope which included seed for:  partridge berry, black eyed susans, carolina pea, garden phlox, goldenrod and coneflowers.   Watch and check out which plants do the best with this approach.  Unfortunately early weed whacking may have slowed the progress of this project.  Keep watching
