My memory is a mirror they breathed upon, 2012, performance

The author collaborated on her artistic project with her mother, Helena Kapelová. Based on her narration and in cooperation with her, she wrote the text. It is the story of an important part of a mother's life. By her parents' choice, she was directed to the professional path of a lathe operator. However, through her interest activity - reciting, she managed to change this direction, which she perceives as a significant qualitative shift, both from manual to intellectual activity, but also as a shift from work as a means of livelihood to a fulfilling profession, with which she was able to identify with a sense of social pride . The text mostly refers to the pre-revolutionary period, to which her career as a reciter and speech teacher was closely linked.

Another important step in working with the text was the learning process. The mother instructed her daughter how to recite the text, which parts to emphasize. This process is recorded on a documentary video. However, the final outcome of the mother and daughter collaboration is the performance itself. Oral history, although mediated by a written text, returns here again to the realm of oral transmission. The author becomes the bearer and spreader of her mother's story, her external memory. The theme of memory is central to this work, it is mentioned in the title and in the lectured text - in both as something treacherous, fragile, foggy... Finally, oral presentation also depends on the living memory of the individual, which is not completely reliable, therefore it is likely that there will be certain shifts and distortions when telling the story.

Na svojom umeleckom projekte spolupracovala autorka so svojou matkou, Helenou Kapelovou. Na základe jej rozprávania a v spolupráci s ňou napísala text. Ide o príbeh dôležitej časti matkinho života. Tá bola voľbou svojich rodičov nasmerovaná na profesijnú dráhu sústružníčky. Prostredníctvom záujmovej činnosti - recitátorstva sa jej však podarilo toto nasmerovanie zmeniť, čo sama vníma ako výrazný kvalitatívny posun, jednak od manuálnej k intelektuálnej činnosti, ale aj ako posun od práce ako prostriedku obživy k napĺňajúcemu povolaniu, s ktorým sa dokázala identifikovať s pocitom stavovskej hrdosti. Text sa z väčšej časti týka predprevratového obdobia, na ktoré bola jej dráha recitátorky a učiteľky prednesu úzko naviazaná.

Ďalším dôležitým krokom práce s textom bol proces učenia. Matka dcéru inštruovala, ako má text prednášať, na ktoré časti klásť dôraz. Tento proces je zaznamenaný na dokumentačnom videu. Konečným výstupom spolupráce matky a dcéry je však samotný prednes. Orálna história, hoci sprostredkovaná písaným textom, sa tu znovu vracia do sféry ústneho podania. Autorka sa stáva nositeľkou a šíriteľkou matkinho príbehu, jej externou pamäťou. Téma pamäti je pre túto prácu centrálna, zmieňuje sa v názve aj v prednášanom texte - v oboch ako čosi zradné, krehké, zahmlené... Napokon aj ústne podanie je závislé na živej pamäti jednotlivca, ktorá nie je úplne spoľahlivá, je preto pravdepodobné, že pri prednášaní príbehu bude dochádza aj k určitým posunom a skresleniam.
