End of 2023: writing-up is up to date

Post date: 25th December 2023

I have finished writing up our walks completed in 2023 (for details see Walks in 2023) and we have started planning for 2024.

JordanWalks checking complete

Post date: Feb 17, 2020 1:27:42 PM

I have completed my check of all papes, removing deadlinks and adding occasional reflections with the benefit of hindsight.

Of course the process could be compared with painting the Forth Bridge; I am sure there are already more links that have disappeared or altered, and there will certainly be author mistakes remaining. Please don't hesitate to point these out by emailing JordanWalks@gmail.com

Meanwhile, we are hoping to return to the Grand Union Canal tomorrow, so JordanWalks won't be up to date for long.

Early 2020...and checking

Post date: Jan 25, 2020 8:27:41 AM

Amazingly, despite various pressures at home and work and inclement weather, we have managed to keep walking, making slow progress on both the Chiltern Way Bedfordshire Extension and the Grand Union Canal Walk.

Also, I have now completed my checking of the South West Coast Path

Walks in 2019...and 2020

Post date: Dec 30, 2019 8:53:47 PM

Our walks in 2019, including the Cumbria Way, the completion of the Wealdway, the Three Shires Way and progress along the Grand Union Canal Walk, the Nene Way and the Chiltern Way, are summarised here ...and our early plans for 2020 are described here.

Overall map

Post date: Dec 30, 2019 8:44:15 PM

Many thanks to Richard for all of his hard work, the map of all our walks is now up to date and on this site under "Linking it all together". It is lovely to be able to see how all of our walks slot together. We now record the routes of our walks using the "MyTracks" App, but Richard had to mark out the early routes by hand on Google Maps.

JordanWalks checking

Post date: Dec 30, 2019 8:25:28 PM

I have been working through the website correcting dead links etc. - and it has been extremely interesting reading about all of our works. I'm working through in alphabetical order and have so far done everything up to the Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path.

Cumbria Way progress update

Post date: Jul 13, 2019 7:23:16 AM

We had a lovely walk along the Cumbria Way in June, making the best of reasonable weather in the Lake District when it was dire down south. However the rain caught up with us in the end and we abandoned the last two days of the walk (from Penrith to Carlisle). We hope to return to complete these later in the summer or in the autumn. In the meantime, what we have completed is written up; follow the links from here

Easter walking

Post date: May 4, 2019 5:24:51 PM

We made some progress on the Nene Way and linked up to King's Lynn via the Peter Scott Walk. Jordanwalks now all up to date.

Wealdway done!

Weekend adventures

Walk from Land's End to Scotland via home

Post date: Oct 8, 2016 6:37:10 AM

The descriptions of our walks along the South Tyne Trail, Hadrian's Wall, St Oswald's Way and the Northumberland Coast Path are now in a good enough state that I feel able to announce that JordanWalks have walked from Land's End to the Scottish Border via home!

The description of the links between the paths (and in particular the map showing everything) is still a work in progress - here.

Linking up the length of England

Post date: Aug 20, 2016 5:39:10 PM

Following our completion of the South Tyne Trail and walks along the Hadrian's Wall Path and St Oswald's Way we have now walked from Land's End to the Scottish Border. Since the link from Lindisfarne to the Scottish Border comes by way of St Cuthbert's Way, our additional walk along the Northumberland Coastal Path to Berwick-upon-Tweed was in a sense superfluous (and Berwick is not quite in Scotland!) but we did it in any case.

The writing up may take a little time, though the South Tyne Trail, St Oswald's Way and the Northumberland Coastal Path are in a state where it is worth following the links.

Catch up continues

Post date: Aug 20, 2016 5:31:22 PM

I have now completed the description of our walk along the Kennet and Avon Canal

Cotswold Way done

Post date: Jul 10, 2016 6:42:35 AM

...the catch up continues! I have now completed the write up of our delightful walk along the Cotswold Way earlier in the year.

Catching up

Post date: Jul 10, 2016 6:10:12 AM

I'm behind in my writing up of JordanWalks, but not as behind as these news items might indicate! I have completed the write-ups of our delightful walks at opposite ends of the country along the Wessex Ridgeway and the Teesdale Way.

Around Milton Keynes

Post date: Jul 10, 2016 6:04:38 AM

I now spend around half of most weeks living in  the village of Sherington near Newport Pagnell, whilst working in Milton Keynes, so for the next few years look out for walks around Milton Keynes, and between MK and home in Norfolk. So far we have completed the Ouse Valley Way and the Milton Keynes Boundary Walk.

Untitled Post

Post date: Jun 7, 2015 9:33:30 AM

At long last - our 2015 walks along the Channel Island Way (Guernsey, Herm and Sark) and the Yorkshire Wolds Way are written up.

Viking Way done

Post date: Nov 8, 2014 6:10:17 PM

We had a delightful 6-day holiday in October which took us from Lincoln to the Humber Bridge, thus completing the Viking Way. It is now all written up.

Another walk on the Wessex Ridgeway

Post date: Oct 26, 2013 5:57:20 AM

Last weekend we walked from Warminster in Wiltshire to Shillingstone, just across the county border in Dorset. This is a glorious path! Start reading here

Wessex Ridgeway

Post date: Sep 8, 2013 7:03:32 PM

Having walked the Peddars Way, the Icknield Way and the Ridgeway, we just have the Wessex Ridgeway left to walk to complete the journey from the North Norfolk Coast to the South Dorset Coast at Lyme Regis. We started the Wessex Ridgeway on my birthday at the end of August 2013 and so far we have walked something over 40 miles along it, from Marlborough to just past Warmister in Wiltshire.

Ridgeway completed!

Post date: Jul 19, 2013 11:22:21 AM

We walked from Goring-on-Thames to Overton Hill in the heat wave that much of the UK continues to enjoy. That's The Ridgeway done. Click here and then follow the links for details of the whole of our walk along the path.

South West Coast Path - job done!

Post date: May 29, 2013 2:20:17 PM

Around 1.30pm yesterday, 28th May 2013, we reached the end of the South West Coast Path. Click here and then follow the links for details of our entire walk on the path.

South West Coast Path - counting down

Post date: May 2, 2013 7:36:09 AM

We have just returned from a lovely walk from Sidmouth to Ferry Bridge and around the Isle of Portland, so we only have 42 miles left to go. This section is now written up on JordanWalks - click here then follow the links.

Hereward Way done!

Post date: Apr 21, 2013 9:05:54 PM

Progress to Easter 2013

Post date: Mar 29, 2013 2:53:29 PM

The weather has been pretty dreadful, but we managed to walk from Teignmouth to Sidmouth on the South West Coast Path, and we have just (Good Friday 2013) resumed our progress on the Hereward Way.

Second walk along the Norfolk Coast Path

Post date: Oct 18, 2012 3:46:26 AM

As planned, we completed the walk in a long weekend, between 12th and 15th October 2012. Descriptions of the individual legs are  here.

Second walk along Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path

Post date: Sep 23, 2012 8:31:21 PM

When the walked the Norfolk Coast Path back in 2006 and 2007, some of our legs were very short, and we walked some of it out of order. So we are hoping to walk the Norfolk Coast Path again, as a single four day adventure in October. We hadn't planned to walk the Peddars Way again, but now we've decided to do that again too - in a series of one-day legs (some longer and some shorter than previously) but over as short a timescale as work and weather permit.

 Follow our progress here.

Stour Valley Path complete

Post date: Aug 3, 2012 8:50:35 AM

We completed our walk along the Stour Valley Path on 23rd July 2012  and this is now written up on JordanWalks.

South West Coast Path - Plymouth to Teignmouth

Post date: Jun 5, 2012 2:57:47 PM

We had a wonderful time walking this stretch of the SW coast path at the end of May and it is now written up. Click here (with details of the individual legs at the level below).

Stour Valley Path

Post date: Apr 17, 2012 3:30:55 AM

On Sunday we walked the first leg of the Stour Valley Path, from Newmarket to Great Thurlow. Description coming soon!

South West Coast Path - the adventure continues

Post date: May 28, 2011 9:29:47 AM

We've just got home from a most enjoyable walk from Falmouth to Plymouth and I will be writing up this leg of the South West Coast Path for JordanWalks as soon as possible. Meanwhile our walk along the Angles Way continues, whenever time and weather permit.

A new adventure - the Angles Way

Post date: Nov 8, 2010 5:54:39 PM

Today we started walking the Angles way which starts where the Weavers' Way finishes in Great Yarmouth and follows close to the Norfolk/Suffolk border for 78 miles to end at Knettishall Heath, where the Peddars' Way starts.

Weavers' Way finished and website up to date

Post date: Oct 12, 2010 5:50:05 AM

We finished walking the Weavers' Way on 2nd October, and the website is now up to date.

Unusually, that leaves us without any firm plans for our next long distance path. We're tempted by the Angles Way (though it may be too far from home for walking in short legs from home on short winter days) and we will almost certainly walk another leg of the South West Coast Path next spring. We're still thinking about next summer!

Website up to date

Post date: Aug 22, 2010 10:13:22 AM

The description of our walk along St Cuthbert's Way in June 2010 is now complete, so JordanWalks is now up to date.

Now we just await an opportunity (time and weather!) to complete the Weavers' Way.

Kings Lynn to Hunstanton

Post date: Mar 30, 2012 9:36:08 PM

We walked from King's Lynn to Hunstanton last weekend, linking the Fen Rivers Way to the Norfolk Coast Path and completing a circuit of Norfolk. This is now written up.

Icknield Way Path done

Post date: Nov 22, 2011 8:06:15 AM

...and I'm working on the relevant pages on this site.

Angles Way, Icknield Way Path and a new rucksack

Post date: Sep 17, 2011 2:59:07 PM

Last week we completed the Angles Way and this week we have made significant progress along the Icknield Way Path (it will take me a day or two to get the website up to date). Most excitingly, we've done both of these walks over several days, staying at B&Bs as usual, but carrying our own luggage. Richard has done most of the carrying in his new rucksack, but I've taken some extra weight - and we have coped fine! So for walks of up to around 4 days/50 miles we have a new way of travelling... For the Icknield Way adventure we left the car at home and travelled to and from our starting/ending points by train and bus, even going so far as to walk to our local station. It all feels very good and it opens new horizons.

Website up to date

Post date: Jul 4, 2011 5:32:16 AM

The description of our walk along the South West Coast Path from Falmouth to Plymouth is now complete.

Penzance to Falmouth - description complete

Post date: Aug 4, 2010 10:20:25 AM

At last - I've completed the description of our walk in April from Penzance to Falmouth along the South West Coast Path. I am now working on St Cuthbert's Way at the same time as keeping up with our progress along the Weavers' Way.

St Cuthbert's Way

Post date: Jun 26, 2010 8:09:16 PM

We had a lovely walk along St Cuthbert's Way from Melrose to Lindisfarne in June 2010. However progress is slow writing up both this walk and our walk along the South West Coast Path from Penzance to Falmouth.
