IHSA CROSS COUNTRY-SCHAUMBURG SECTIONAL

Date: November 1, 2008

Time: Girls Race – 10:30am

Boys Race – 11:30am

Awards/Advancement: 1st-Team, 1st-10th-Individuals (auto. qualify)

Top 5 teams and top 7 individuals not on qualifying teams.

Course: 3.0 miles

The course will be marked on Friday morning, October 31st.

There will be a double line. Runners must pass to the course side

of cones, flags and trees. The line is a guide. The entire course

will be roped off. Spectators are to remain outside the ropes.

Warm-ups: On race day you may use the course up until the start of the

girls race. Boys may go back onto the course at the conclusion

of the girls race.

Team packets: Will be available on Saturday morning.

All changes must be made by 10:00am.

Start/Finish/Results

Each athlete will be assigned a bib number that will be worn on the

front of the singlet. Each athlete will also be assigned two(2) timing

computer chips. They are to be laced into the shoe securely.

The race ends for each runner as his first foot crosses the finish

line. As a back-up there will be a visual recording of bib numbers

and a video from two angles. The official result is the chip.

Results will be posted after the starter/referee (Jim Swift) has

certified their accuracy.

Starting Line: Each team and individual will be assigned a numbered starting

box based on a blind draw. Starting box assignments will be

in your team envelope. A clock located at the finish area will

count down the time until the race starts. There will be PA

announcements 15 minutes and 5 minutes before the start.

runners should be at the start line 15 minutes before the

start for final check-in. The starter will be on a ladder

behind the start line. When all runners are at the line a

whistle will sound to indicate the command set. When all

runners are set the gun will sound. If any runner goes down

during the first 100 yards of the race a recall will sound.

Facilities: All competitors should dress at home. There will be portable

toilets available. It is recommended that you bring your own

drinking water. The forest preserve wells may or may not be

open. We will have a concession stand available.

First Aid: Certified athletic trainers will be at the course. A first aid

station will be located inside the finish area.

Finish Area: Race officials and athletes that have completed their race

are allowed in the finish area. Athletes must remove and turn

in the computer chip before they can leave the finish area.

Team Camps: Must be north of the team parking area. Not inside course.

Parking: Parking for teams will be reserved. The area will be located

just next to the course (the first left). You will be limited to

one vehicle per team. Spectator parking is located all

throughout the groves. A long walk is possible. No parking on

the grass or Higgins Road. Pep busses are a suggestion.

We will have a drop off area and the driver can park at

Woodfield or Streets of Woodfield.

Directions: The course is located south and east of the Higgins Rd (Rt.72)

exit off of 290/Rt.53.
