This time it's the Syracuse alumnae in the family who are cheering the NCAA Lacrosse Champions. One year after Hugh's alma mater Johns Hopkins took the title, with Hugh and Doug in attendence, the Blue Jays were knocked off their perch by the Orange of Dolores and Julie's alma mater, Syracuse.

Patrick's track team won the Bronx championships on Saturday, Jan. 5. Fox TV grabbed a clip of two pole vaulters from the Fordham Prep Web site and ran it with their televised story. Patrick is the second pole vaulter seen in the clip. His mom informs us: "What’s funny is that pole vaulting was NOT part of the championships, yet Fox gave them all the credit for the win!" The original clip on the Fordham Prep site is from training earlier in the season and shows the first time Patrick cleared 7 feet. See it now on Birch Street TV.

Christine was among nearly 300 riders to take part in the annual Spring Troop Show at the Watchung Stable. She's been riding there for the past seven years. Story, photos and video clip posted 5/25/2008.

Christine saw plenty of action as her Scotch Plains-Fanwood soccer team took on its crosstown rival team in an Intercounty Youth Soccer League game May 11.
Andy succeeded in winning promotion from Green Belt to Blue Belt in the martial art of Tae Kwon Do on Aug 16, 2007. Under the demanding eye of Master Yoo at the Martial Arts Institute of America school in Scotch Plains, Andy performed admirably to win his new belt and a trophy. Here he demonstrates his forms at home after his promotion.

The two teams tied in their previous meeting this season; this time the other team edged Christine's team 1-0.
Both Christine's and Andy's teams battled into the playoffs
of their divisions in the Intercounty Youth Soccer League. Read details of the entire season and see the action photos.
Stepanie was awarded her orange belt in karate in December 2007 and advanced again in April 2008 to her "camo" belt. See details and photos here.

Hugh and Doug were among the more than 48,000 fans who saw the Johns Hopkins Blue Jay Lacross team defeat the Duke Blue Devils 12-11 in the NCAA Division I National Championship game. Read their account.
Curling club championships

Becky traveled to St. Paul, Minn. to compete in the U.S. Curling Association Club National Championships competition March 4-10, 2007. Becky was chosen to be part of the Maryland team from the Potomac Curling Club, which finished with a 5-4 record after a couple of very close losses.
