Riddler rearing

This is a pastel drawing Christine did for her high school art class in November 2007:

It's a picture of "Riddler," a feisty horse Christine rode recently in her weekly lesson at Watchung Stables.

The horse was in a bad mood and tried to throw her off, but Christine was able to bring it under control - and gained a higher troop ranking as a result.

From paper to computer

Christine enjoys drawing and creating artwork by scanning her original drawings into the computer and coloring and enhancing them using software like Paint or Adobe and a Wacom Tablet, which replaces a conventional computer mouse and allows the user to simulate bruses and other tools and apply varying pressure for shading.

Many of her favorite subjects are fantastic beasts, such as this winged unicorn. The grass was created with software, but the animal was drawn free-hand, scanned and then colored in the computer.

Pencilled pencils

This creation is the result of an 8th grade art class assignment: Make a pencil sketch of something composed entirely of pencils. Christine naturally envisioned a pencil dragon.

Pen and ink

Christine did this pen-and-ink drawing recently (May 2007) in a class at Art Lab in Westfield.

Horses are a favorite subject for Christine, an animal lover who also enjoys riding.

This drawing is called "Blood roan" for the type of horse it depicts.

This horse's name is Apache
