ICOPHIL

8th International Conference on Philippine Studies

The 8th International Conference on Philippine Studies (ICOPHIL) was held at the

Philippine Social Science Center along Commonwealth Ave. last

July 23-25, 2008, with 279 papers having been presented.

I presented my paper entitled "Corporate Ethical Culture: An Exploratory Descriptive Survey of Philippine Companies" during PANEL 9G, Friday, July 25, along with Dr. Don Eliseo Lucero-Prisno (Cardiff University, Wales) and Prof. Aaron Rom Moralina (Ateneo de Manila University). Our panel was chaired by Prof. Borrinaga of UP Manila - Leyte campus. Here are some photos:

On the panel table above, you see Prof. Aaron Moralina, myself, and Prof. Borrinaga.

On the photo above (sorry the shot of the speaker is quite unclear), the Chancellor of University of Hawai'i at Manoa, Dr. Virginia Hinshaw, speaks on the importance of Science in inter-disciplinary studies such as the highly multi-disciplinary Philippine Studies area of research.

That's the entire Panel 9G: seated L-R: myself, Dr. Don Lucero-Prisno, Aaron Moralina.

Standing: Prof. Borrinaga, our panel chair.

A shot of my "Idol", Chancellor of UP Diliman, Dr. Sergio "Gerry" Cao. The dinner of July 23rd was courtesy of his office. As Dr. Churchill knew he was a "singing Chancellor", she invited him to render a song number. He couldn't say 'no'; so there he is, with a beautiful rendition of "Let It Be Me".

To the right is the chief ORGANIZER of the Conference, Dr. Bernardita "Nita" Churchill,

In the middle you see CHERUBIM "CHERRY" QUIZON", a classmate from High School (St. Joseph's College), whom I hadn't seen since, um, er, 1981?! I was so glad to have met her at the Conference!
