Jerry Finrow FAIA

Jerry V. Finrow FAIA (BArch UW 1964, MArch UC Berkeley 1968), served as Dean of the University of Washington College of Architecture and Urban Planning 1995-2000.
He came to his post following a term as Dean of the School of Architecture and Allied Arts at the University of Oregon, and also served as President of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA).
As a widely experienced and respected educator, researcher, and practicing architect, he has focused on the architecture of housing.  Scholarly projects have included federal research initiatives (as co-principal investigator for a program funded by the US Department of Energy) in the area of energy-efficient industrialized housing, especially in Scandinavia.  A specialist in industrialized housing technology, especially using wood, he has taught and published historical studies of housing theory and design in Europe.  He has held visiting appointments at various schools, including North Carolina State University, the University of Southern California, and the Helsinki Technical University at Otanemi, Finland.  His own innovative housing and neighborhood design, expressed in several projects in Oregon, has also received recognition.
