Rifle
The NJROTC Rifle Team started off a new season just like they finished last season (IN WINNING WAYS). On Saturday, September 23rd the team competed in the Freeport Pretzel Open in Freeport, IL. Led by Riley Vines (557) and Gianna Gomez (555) the ZB’s placed 1st, 2nd, 5th, 7th, and 14th out of 19 teams.
Competing on the gold medal team were Kalinn White, Gianna Gomez, Brayden Rich and Miah Leong.
Competing on the silver medal team were Dean Vines, Brianna Benedetto, Santiago Camacho and Nathan Zelaya.
Competing on team 3 were Damion Garcia, Darrien Newman, Francisco Camacho and Shanon Braden.
Competing on team 4 were Brian Rico, Sydney Cubacub, Davin Braden and Kashif Latif.
Competing on team 5 were Daniel Cochrane, Luis Ruiz, Emmanuel Camacho and Lessly Trevino.
Individually, Riley Vines won - gold, Gianna Gomez - silver and Brayden Rich - bronze. Rounding out the top 10 were Brianna Benedetto - 5th, Kalinn White - 7th, Miah Leong - 8th and Santiago Camacho - 10th out of 94 competitors.
This past weekend the ZB’s competed at the Montgomery Bell Academy Rifle Classic in Nashville, TN. The ZB’s were on target and captured the Gold and Silver team awards. Leading the way with a monster score of 563 out of a possible 600 points was team captain Kalinn White. Also having a great day was Briana Benedetto with a 554. Seven points separated ZB team 1 (2187) and team 2 (2181). As you can see both teams brought there A game to the Music City. Twenty three teams competed at this competition.
Competing on the gold medal team were Kalinn White, Brayden Rich, Riley Vines and Gianna Gomez.
Competing on the silver medal team were Miah Leong, Briana Benedetto, Santiago Camacho and Addyson Gustafson.
Competing on team 3 and placing 5th was Dameon Garcia, Nathan Zelaya, Darrien Newman, and Francisco Camacho.
Competing on team 4 and placing 12th was Davin Braden, Brian Rico, Shanon Braden and Daniel Cochrane.
Competing on team 5 and placing 18th were Luis Ruiz, Emmanuel Camacho, Lessly Trevino and Joseph Cruz.
Individually, Kalinn White won gold and Briana Benedetto - silver. Rounding out the top 10 were Santiago Camacho - 7th, Addyson Gustafson - 8th and Braden Rich - 9th out of 117 competitors.
Additionally, the ZB’s are off to a 2-0 start in league play and looking forward to competing in the championship match in early December.
The Rifle Team would there to thank the administration and BOE for there continued support each and every year. Additionally, the team would like to thank the National Rifle Association and the Midway Foundation for everything they have done for the team as well.
