What is NJROTC?

Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) is a federally sponsored high school program that provides an opportunity for students to learn basic elements of citizenship and leadership. Zion-Benton Township High School's NJROTC program benefits the Zion community and school while supporting cadets to succeed during and after high school. This program is open to all ZBTHS/NTZB students. Our main objective is to:

How do I enroll?

Enrollment can be done during your course request received the previous year by selecting NJROTC as your elective. It can also be done by contacting your counselor for a schedule change during the year.

How do I get involved?

There are various ways you can be involved in the program. NJROTC hosts and helps many events in the Zion community that allow you to get community service hours! You can also be involved in the program by joining a team!

What teams can I join?

We offer teams that are year round to all cadets such as the Drill Team, Rifle Team, Orienteering Team, Academic Team, and Drone Team! We attend many competitions throughout the year, including nationals where we hold titles as a program.

Where are the NJROTC rooms?

They are located in rooms 430A and 430B.

Can I do NJROTC at New Tech campus?

Yes, you can! Talk to your counselor about adding NJROTC to your course request.

How do I advance in the program?

You can advance by completing your sign-off sheet and taking advancement tests. You can ask for these materials by contacting the Advancement Officers - SCPO Derla, PO2 Mendez.

Where do I sign up for community service?

Your NSI should announce and pass out a permission slip for each community service event. For some activities, there will be a sign up sheet available to sign up.


Are there fees?

Yes, there is a one time fee for the program (assessed in the students first year in the program). Click here to see fee information.
