RYS Chapter 14 includes a ton of tools... needed for what comes next.
I'm including the links and descriptions to these tools below... so everything below is from Aden...
If you are a normal human being, you might be asking yourself, “How on earth do I figure out if I’m writing at a 5th grade reading level, or 10th grade reading level.”
Maybe you have decided to email all your writing to your nine year old niece to see if she can comprehend your writing. It might not be a bad idea, but it probably isn’t very time effective.
Here is a free tool for you:
Try it out. Paste your last email update into the editor and see what kind of results you get. Use the Hemingway App for all of the emails you send out.
Trust me. If you implement these few changes people will begin to take notice of the words you are writing and the kingdom work you are doing.
The second tool you need is a free editor called Grammarly.
Oh . . . one last thing. Typo aren’t as big of a deal as people make them out to be. In fact many professional copy writers intentionally include typo’s in their emails to make them feel less professional.
Spend your energy improving things that actually matter—not vanity metrics like never misspelling a word in your life.
The third essential tool is email format for Mail Chimp.
You want as many people on your email list as possible. If you have a person’s email address you have a direct mode of communication with them. The Facebooks and twitters of the world will come and go. You don’t own those platforms.
You own your email list. This means you will forever be able to contact that person—unless of course the individual changes their address without telling you. But you won’t be place in jeopardy of losing all your connections in a single day (it happens).
When sending out email update, try to keep your emails feeling and looking as much like a personal email as possible, and not likes a “newsletter” with banners, and buttons all over.
People want to connect with people. So look and feel like a person. Not a corporation.
Click here to find a free download of my preferred Mail Chimp template and how to install it on your Mail Chimp account.
Oh, and if you don’t have a mass email service provider—check out Mail Chimp at www.mailchimp.com. Again—free.
