Welcome to Art IV! This class is our most advanced art course for art students who want to develop their own style, skills, and creative voice. Students will conceptualize and build a portfolio, or what I call a "concentration." Works in the concentration should be related to a bigger idea or concept that the student wants to explore visually/artistically. Students are expected to take work home and work outside of class and being late on work will quickly hurt your grade. We will complete a "Warm-Up" most days of class, often times related to observation drawing.
Prerequisite: ART III passed with a C+ or teacher approval.
*Art IV students could also have the choice to participate in the same assignments as art III if they do not want to work on a personal portfolio.
Art IV Portfolios will be on display during the Miner Showcase Art Walk
Art IV students are expected to set up their portion of the Artwalk including all 5 of their artworks from their Concentration, and 5 of their best executed works outside the class or from previous years. All works should be matted or framed for presentation. (Mr. Chismar will have mat board and will help you mat prior to the show). Art will be set up the day before and the day of the Miner Showcase.
Students in art III and/or IV will earn a rope to wear on graduation day.
Compositions with Art III:
-Casebound Bookbinding (beginning of year)
- Cyanotype Photography or Suminagashi Paper Marbling (September)
- "Leave your final mark" Sculpture Garden Painting or Custom Mosaic (Semester 2 Final)
