Mechanic Assistant

Job Summary

Assists with, but not limited to, aircraft servicing, repairs and preventive maintenance on customer aircrafts and Swissport GSE equipment. Performs office administrative tasks as assigned by a Licensed A&P Mechanic, lead mechanics or AMM/AMS


Job Responsibilities

• Assists mechanics with aircraft transit handling and equipment or toolings

• Cleans and maintains shop equipment and tools in a clean and orderly manner

• Maintains and monitors parts and fluid inventories; Checks batteries and fluid levels in equipment and replaces or replenishes as needed.

• Perform a variety of minor mechanical repairs or preventive maintenance on customer aircrafts under direct supervision of a Licensed A&P Mechanic at all times.

• Operates various hand tools, including, grease gun, hydraulic jack, nitrogen servicing tools, etc.;

• Picks up supplies and parts from vendors or suppliers as necessary.

• Establish and maintain effective working relationship[s with co-workers and suppliers; and maintain local state driver’s license applicable to job responsibilities and good driving record.


Qualifications And Competencies

• A recent graduate from an aviation related program, or in the process of obtaining his/her Airframe and Power Plant License from an FAA FSDO or equivilant experience required.

• Ability to read and understand how to interpret policies and procedures of: FAA and FAR rules

• Experience in automotive and equipment repairs.

• Experience with performing a variety of minor mechanical repairs or preventive maintenance on customer aircrafts under a direct supervision of a Licensed A&P Mechanic at ALL TIMES.

• Local state driver’s license applicable to job responsibilities with a good driving record.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• The ability to walk, sit, stand, bend and stoop for long periods

• May be required to lift, carry or push/pull supplies, materials, equipment and/or items weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Work is primarily conducted outdoors.
