We are starting with screencasting since it was the most selected topic we proposed (see below for pre-planning steps). Please find the goal, resources, and videos to start learning about screencasting and eventually making your own at the link below:
Another tool that is emerging across content areas is virtual reality and augmented reality. This orientation to learning is immersive and creative and is now available to nearly everyone with access to a smartphone.
Why Virtual VLI for the Summer
We looked over the topics and posters that were submitted thus far and believe that in order to meet the diverse needs of all the school members a more team-based, virtual, and practical orientation will work best for the institute this summer. We had proposed a three-day summer institute, but both from a content perspective and a scheduling perspective, a summer of collaborative tinkering with a particular idea seems to be a productive way forward during the summer months.
How to Signup for VLI this Summer
We brainstormed six topics as places to learn and grow. We will meet virtually as smaller groups to work in one (or more) areas over the summer depending on what topics participants choose. The emphasis will be on trying something new or useful for you and your work and tinkering with it alongside others.
