The Art NHS field trip with Mr. Stofko was a community service project, where students painted various buildings in local areas. The first session took place in Herminie, where students painted different buildings along the main strip. A week later, they continued their work at West Newton, painting the Senior Center and an auto shop. Thank you to all participants!
Saint Vincent Field Trip
Written by Sidney Bergman
Saint Vincent had offered for both the AP Government class, taught by Mr. Aaron, and AP Physics C, taught by Mr. Cannizzaro, to go to their university and learn more about their specific fields. The AP Government students had gotten different presentations on leadership, history, and economics. The AP Physics group got presentations on space, engineering labs, and computer science. It was a great trip for a college tour and seeing all that Saint Vincent had to offer. Overall, the day was very informative and all who went enjoyed their day.
Westinghouse Field Trip
Written by Sidney Bergman
The WestingHouse field trip was a new event exclusively for students interested in engineering who were taking AP Physics C. A small group of students spent the day learning about different categories of engineering and got great insight on both the college process and hiring process that goes along with the field. All groups that attended got to do the following; attempt to fish candy out of a huge reactor part, code a mini robot for an obstacle course, simulate how atoms decay, and practice gearing up in personal protective equipment that would be required for working with radioactive materials. The day was very informative and it was all possible thanks to Mr. Cannizzaro!

Audrina stated, “It was a very good trip and it definitely helped me set my mind on what I want to do in the future.” Mya Broadwater had an interesting statement as she said, “I really liked the vo-tech field trip and it was very informative which definitely impacted my career choice by showing me what I like and dislike.” Emma Jubic had a similar experience. Jubic says, “It was very helpful and educational for deciding my future career choices.” Jordyn Polovina also had a positive experience and stated, “I loved the field trip a lot. It definitely helped me decide my career choice as well.” The vo-tech field trip was definitely a positive experience for future career choices for these freshmen. There was also an open house at CWCTC Vocational School where the field trip took place and where students could take relatives to see the school.
