OneWorldGirl: the Changemakers Council:
Open to grades 8-12. The changemakers council is a group of young women who participate in a year long journey of learning and mentorship to build and utilize leadership gifts in the community. Yorktown Youth Council: The Yorktown Youth Council will resume in January 2025! This opportunity is open to all residents of Yorktown in grades 8-12 who wish to have a voice in their local government!

Youth Leadership- President’s Junior Leadership council: Northern Westchester Hospital President’s Junior Leadership Council (PJLC), a student healthcare leadership program. They welcome students in 8th, 9th, 10th grades. Application opens January 6 and closes on January 31st, 2025.
The PJLC is a youth leadership program whose mission is to improve the health, safety, and well-being of youth in Northern Westchester County. PJLC members:
Are considered volunteers of Northern Westchester Hospital
Act as liaisons between community youth, their schools, and Hospital
Help identify key health issues affecting young people and develop programs to address them
Support, advise, and assist NWH in efforts to promote health and wellness in the community
Explore careers in healthcare

Open to sophomores, juniors and graduating seniors: The Yorktown Central School District anticipates summer student employment opportunities in our facilities and technology departments. Arts Westchester:
Teen Tuesdays & Thursdays is a FREE after-school program that engages youth ages 12-16 yrs in fun and creative art activities with professional teaching artists. Monthly workshops are FREE and enrollment is first come, first serve.
Workshops are held at ArtsWestchester at 31 Mamaroneck Ave, 5th Floor, White Plains, NY 10601, 4:30-6pm.

Jazz forum:
Jazz Forum Arts, located in Tarrytown, NY, is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit arts presenting organization, founded in 1985. Jazz Forum Arts is committed to providing accessible programs and events to audiences throughout the New York Metropolitan area. JFA also offers a Jazz Forum Student Ensemble, a new teen program for aspiring young musicians in grades 5-12, led by Ron Vincent and Nancy Kennedy. Students will learn jazz improvisation and basic harmony while playing with their peers. The program runs for 11 weeks and includes an end of semester concert. All interested students and instruments are welcome. Though, students should have a minimum two years experience on their instrument and a basic knowledge of major scales, fingerings and be comfortable reading music.

HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS SOUGHT FOR NATIONAL YOUTH SCIENCE CAMP
Applications are now being accepted from high school seniors to represent New York State at the 2023 National Youth Science Camp (NYSCamp).
Two students from each state, Washington, D.C, and 8 countries will attend the camp which will be held June - July. See website for specific dates.
The National Youth Science Camp is a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) opportunity. The camp will provide daily lectures and seminars with leading scientists, directed studies alongside visiting and resident STEM professionals and engage in activities in the natural, physical, computer sciences, and creative arts.

Global Scholar equips youth leaders to be bold and visionary change makers around urgent global challenges. Participants learn about global issues from experts, build tools to engage their peers and communities, and take the next steps in launching purposeful careers. Global Scholars learn with and from some of the brightest young minds working on these issues today.

YMCA Teen Leaders Club: This club is a nationwide YMCA program for teens ages 13-18. Participants gain leadership skills through community service and fun activities. Teen Leaders meet weekly at Camp Combe in Putnam Valley. For more information visit: https://ymca-cnw.org/teen-leaders-club/
Pegasus Therapeutic Riding: Brewster, NY. This is a non profit that serves people with special needs. High school student volunteers are needed to work with the horses and children with special needs at Pegasus Farm in Brewster, NY. Training is provided. Alliance for Safe Kids (ASK): The Alliance for Safe Kids (ASK) is a New York-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Founded in 2002 by members of the Yorktown Heights community, the Alliance for Safe Kids was incorporated in 2006 as a charitable organization.
