Portrait photography is my favorite type of photography easily. You can convey so much emotion in a little frame. Most of the time, when I am shooting portraits, I am doing it for senior pictures or some other occasion that requires me to be professional. That does not come easily to me, I find that I do my best photography when I am having fun. The airiness to a fun situation allows me to shoot the subject when they are in a feeling of complete lightheartedness.
Lately it's been a little bit different. Past failures and photoshoot flops have made me hesitant to ask my friends to do a photoshoot with me again. I was scared that I lost the 'photographers touch' or whatever you might call it.
Honestly, I stumbled upon this photoshoot with no choice but to carry through with. I was scared that the pictures would be bad and that my friends wouldn't like them. I know, It's weird that I was having anxiety about being mediocre. Throughout the photoshoot my friends had me constantly laughing, and although the ones that are displayed seem very posed there are many of them just goofing off and having fun which really improved my mood.
Now what is the point of this long and tiring story? I learned that, just like sports, photographers can get into a rut and not enjoy anything that they shoot. But if you take a few of your best friends who will keep you laughing, and put them in a place that you love, your photographs will convey how you feel.
