I believe I achieved my goal in working in the darkroom, I feel as though I am a lot more comfortable with the darkroom process. I also feel like I am able to create a quality image and I am able to decide how long I should expose an image and so on and so forth. I feel like I have gotten better at conveying emotions in my photographs but I always have room to improve. I also believe that I got better at deciding which angles work best for a photo. I also think I got more creative when using photoshop and I learned many new techniques that help me create the best quality images possible.
I am taking this course because I love photography and want to learn more techniques and skills that make a photo great. I also would like to work with film a lot more. I think the film process is so much fun and it has to do with a lot of trial and error which I enjoy. I hope that this class will help me think outside of the box to create unique photos that draw your attention. I think that a photo can be used to say something without using words and I want to learn how to convey feelings and emotions in a photo. A photographer becomes successful when he/she makes person who is looking at the photograph feel the same thing that the photographer felt, and I am hoping to learn how to do this over the years in photography.
I feel as though I had big successes when learning how to use the manual setting on my camera. I really learned how to differentiate between deep and shallow depth of field. This helped me create more focused/interesting pictures. Like the picture of the jeans shown down below. I also feel like a made big improvements in the darkroom and I am now able to create good quality pictures using film which I was unable to do coming into the school year. I also feel as though I was able to be more creative with photoshop in and out of class. After our collage assignment I started playing around with photoshop and creating these line drawings depicting certain people. I am very proud of these because I got playing around with it on my own but I also used the tools we learned in class. I also got more brave when photographing in Portland, I would ask people if I could take their picture so I could get the best picture possible.

One of the biggest challenges for me was our collage project. After creating the first image of my mom in the orange coat I wanted to continue using the techniques I had used when creating the first image. Its almost as I had writers block but in photography. It really helped me seeing my classmates work. This way I could see what their thought process was and it helped change the way I was looking at the assignment. Another challenge I had was finding time in my busy schedule to go out and take photo's. I learned how to become creative with what I had and I believe it helped become more creative, it also helped me look at things that are in my everyday life, in a new way.
