Arno Minkkinen is a Finnish Photography who now lived in the united states and it most well known for using his naked body in his photographs. He was born in 1945, and studied photography at a number of schools including the New School For Social Research under George Tice, at the School of Visual Arts under Ralph Hattersley and at the Rhode Island School of Design under Andrew Siskind.
Minninken’s ideas were deeply influenced by all the photographers he worked under. One of them was George Tice. Tice is known for making simple things look put together and unique. Another person who influenced Minneken was Ralph Hattersley. Hattersley is very good at looking at things with a new and interesting perspectives. Andrew Siskind also influenced Minneken as well.
I chose Arno Minkkinen because all his photographs spark some sort of reality questioning thoughts in your mind. His photographs make you think and that’s what every photographers goal should be. The way he uses his own body also helps you understand the amount of time, energy, and thought he puts into his photographs. He makes your mind run in circles trying to figure out the story behind it.
