History of Photography

Purpose:

To understand and explain how photography has evolved over time;

To understand the ways photography in which photography helps to understand people of different times and cultures;

To understand how well-known photographers and the history of photography can influence your own work;

Photography has evolved a ton over the last few hundred years. It used to look very scratchy and almost like it was done with a pencil on paper, as shown by the quality of art by Joseph Nicephore Niepce. Photography was also temporary and over time we have found ways to make it permanent as cameras have improved. Today, we now have the ability to take photos from our phone without having to worry about carrying a camera everywhere. The evolution of photography even in the last century has been remarkable.  Photography can portray the differeneces of time periods, places and cultures because photos have become permanent and we can now post them online on the internet and social media.  I can improve my own photographs by using the strategies that famous photographers learned how to use. They did all the hard work of understanding lighting, perspective and composition, which allows me to know how to make my photos even better. Also understanding the cappabilties of modern day technology will be a great use to me when photographing.
