Jamie Walter - 2018
I choose Jamie Walter because he takes pictures of the beautiful Maine landscapes and really shows people all the beautiful parts of Maine. I took a picture of a tree in Yarmouth on the photo walk and printed it in the dark room, and it came out amazing. I believe that I could emulate his tree work with black and white pictures and lightroom editing. I always lean towards color photography so I am going to switch up my style and try black and white photographs. A technique of his that I am going to use is his editing of light in his tree photography and landscape work.
Jamie Walter lives in Maine, specifically Northeast Harbor Maine. When he was a kid he would make home movies on his camcorder. But it all started when he would travel to Sugarloaf with his friends in his teens and take photos during the winters when he was younger. He was then hired by Sugarloaf in 2013 to be their “Snow Reporter” where he took photographs of skiers and the mountains. He was also named as the staff photographer there. Walter seeks for the adventurous approach in his photography.
The winters in Maine really influenced his photography. His passion for skiing was what really pushed him to keep taking photos of the ski mountains he visited. He likes to show what it is like living in Maine and how beautiful winter activities are, that some people never get to experience. He loves to highlight the most talented ski athletes around the globe. He did an expedition into the Katahdin Woods & Waters National Monument where he wanted to document still motion and movement of the nature around him. His work has been published in Magazines globally.
