Final Thoughts
“Two of the most important concepts I learned this semester”
The two most important concepts I learned this semester is placement and lighting placement. Placement is one of the most important concepts because when you're drawing a still life or any drawing and you get the placement of the object wrong the whole drawing or painting is going to be off. It will probably not look like what you're trying to draw. During my art class, this year I did a still life studies unit and my placement was off in my first drawings then after a lot of practice, I got the placement right in my final and it looks exactly like the example. Another important concept I learned this semester was lighting placement. I am really into photography and we did a photography class and we took photos of our pets. I was told in that class that lighting placement is everything. After hearing that and thinking about where to place my light I took one of the best photos of my dog. I will now always think about the placement of the light while taking pictures.
“Assignment that I am the most proud of”
The assignment I’m most proud of is my final still life. Im most proud of it because I worked so hard on getting the placement, angles, size, and height of all of it correct so it didn’t look weird. I also put a lot of effort into all the practices we did for that unit. I think that drawing is one of the best drawings I have ever done.
Looking ahead with my art experience I think I want to go to college for art so I’m going to use all the knowledge I learned in this class and use all the art resources at Yarmouth High School to see if I could go to college for art. That is my biggest goal. I also am taking the photography class next quarter because I’m interested in photography and taking photos. I have been doing it for a while now and I want to get better at it to reach my final goal of getting into an art college.
I am inspired to do art because growing up I was always awful at anything about art. I could never learn how to play an instrument, or I did and I just couldn't play it. I had no experience with drawing or painting and I was awful at it. I'm taking art this year to get better at it so that maybe someday i can be an artist. I am also taking photography classes to get better at taking photos!
I hope to improve on drawing or painting a face. I want to master how you can draw lips. Or how you can draw a perfect nose. I cannot draw any facial features at all. And I want to learn how, and get better at it.
