Reflection: When thinking about my inspired speaker project, I automatically knew I wanted to base it on a piece with a lot of detail and patterns. I was researching on different sites and one piece specifically caught my eye. It was a dish made around the 18th and 19th centuries in Uzbekistan with various colors and patterns scattered around. To show my inspiration that was based on this piece, I took the circular designs and replicated them onto the base of my speaker. I also used similar colors on my speaker that related to my inspiration piece. Something that I wish I could have incorporated into my design would be more of the intricate flowers shown. I think it would have looked very unique and overall interesting to look at. In the beginning, I did try to add some flowers around, but it didn’t end up looking the way I envisioned it, so I covered them up and went for more of a simple design which I like way more.
When trying out my speaker after it had been fired and glazed, I could hear a difference in the sound production. I can hear it more clearly and it seems to be louder when the sound is pouring out of the sides of my project. I think that I got these results because the openings/width of the sides of the speaker are exceptionally large, so the sound waves can travel at a larger size. Something I would have done to change the design of my speaker would have been to possibly close the phone opening on the bottom to see how the sound would react.
I think that Izzy’s speaker is really interesting thoroughly because of its shape. It looks like it would take a lot of time and effort to make a square speaker, but she did it and it looks great! I think that the most difficult part about that would be making sure the sides are the same length and width. Overall, her speaker looks good and is super cool to admire!
