I thought it was fascinating how National Geographic gives their photographers all of the time and freedom they need to get their amazing shots. They set very few boundaries for them and even let them add their own unique touches to their works. They realize that giving their photographers this freedom benefits the photos they create. I really like this approach and if I were a photographing for them I think it would make my job more enjoyable and fun.
I found it crazy some of the extreme environments the photographers go to in order to get even one shot. They put their lives on the line and spend months on end in uncomfortable places for their work. Some of them go under water or trek through jungles following animals like tigers. One example that struck me the most was the thousands of mosquitos and bugs swarming one of the photographers for hours while he tried to photograph a monkey.
I found I really cool the amazing places the photographers get to visit. Some of them went to tropical oceans with amazing coral reefs and fish. Others got to go to Ireland and see the country and amazing culture they have there. One of the photographers even got exclusive access to new discovered skeletons in Pompeii. I thought this was really cool because after the skeletons were discovered, the photographer was one of the people in thousands of years to get to witness them, and after he took the photos, he got to share to the rest of the world what he saw.
