Purpose: Students will create a Photo Collage with multiple viewpoints of a subject into a single image, similar to David Hockney's "joiners."
I learned how important perspective is to telling a story with photographs. With David Hockney's technique I learned a new way to use perspective by combining several photos into one collage for a new unique perspective that looks very distinct.
I learned about the art form of cubism and how you can do it across many art forms. I find cubism really interesting and think some pieces of art under the cubist classification look really cool. Learning how to use cubism in photography showed me a really awesome new technique to use to make my photos more interesting.
Another concept I learned about was collages and how they can be used to tell a story. Using multiple photos that don’t seem special can convey a new meaning. Like David Hockney does this by combining lots of different photos of a normal looking landscape to make a special collage with a new twist.
