On Monday morning the Erasmus+ students and teachers met at school so that we introduced ourselves, through self-knowledge activities, students had fun learning each other's names. We all also presented our schools and cities by means of videos, presentations, and also games. Students and teachers visited our School Vilatzara, and at noon two different groups were made in order to participate in two different activities. On one hand, half of us did the presentations on Health and sustainability. On the other hand, the other half did The cooking workshop, where they could eat what they had prepared for lunch in the workshop.
After lunch, teachers and students visited our town, Vilassar de Mar. Students participated in a photographic rallie. The students from Poland and Turkiye, accompanied by the Spanish students, took pictures of the most emblematic places.
On Tuesday morning, Students, with the help of their teachers, created the Vegetable garden in the school yard. They both planted the aromatic plants and also placed a tag by the plants; these tags have the names of the plants written on them in English, Spanish and their scientific names. Therefore, whoever is interested in knowing the plants names, can easily identify them.
Soon after they finished the creation of the vegetable garden, all the project students and teachers left for Barcelona where they could enjoy a bike ride around the city., as a way to do sport, keep fit and enjoy a healthy activity. They visited the mountain of Montjuïc which is by the sea. There they also could see the Olympic ring, the stadiums, swimming pools, and so on. On the way down, they passed along the Jardins de Montjuïc and cycled along the sea side. Later, in the afternoon, students and teachers walked up Las Ramblas, one of the most lovely streets of the city to get to the train station and go back home.
Wednesday morning was the day the Erasmus+ students were received in the Town Hall. We could explain to the town representatives what the project is about and the activities we have been doing, not only during the mobility but also the activities previous to the mobility. Students, before going to the town hall, checked the vegetable garden both plants and also checked if it was necessary to rewrite some of the tags.
During the morning, the students could enjoy participating in different sport activities, and also dancing, at school. After these activities, at noon, the activities done on Monday were done by the students. To summarize, the presentations were done, and also the Food workshop.
In the evening, the UE food fair was organised. The Spanish students families prepared different healthy meals, as the visiting countries did. It was a really lovely evening, where families could meet the teachers and also the rest of students participating in the mobility.
On Thursday 27th, the vegetable garden was taken care of before the Erasmus+ teams left for Arenys de Mar fishing port. There, we could learn about the different species of fish which are fished there, and also the sealife on the seaside, small animals and plants of that area. We had lunch at a restaurant in the port, and could taste fresh local seafood. A healthy lunch it was.
We had the opportunity to learn from a fisherman what he had got that morning. He showed different types of fish and also told us he was going to sell the capture at the market right in the port. Later, we could visit one of the facilities and see the auction of all the captures of the day.
We also were explained that fishermen not only capture fish but they also recover lots of plastic from the sea. There are tons of plastic thrown to the sea all over the world, which pollute the oceans. They try to clean the Mediterranean sea as much as they can. In the evening, students and teachers met again at the farewell party.
Friday 28th was the final day with project activities. We travelled for about two hours to the mountains to visit a dairy factory. The area is known for its geological characteristics. There you can see what used to be active volcanoes in ancient times. There is a dairy factory, La Fageda, which has a very particular philosophy. Apart from taking good care of their own cows and also getting milk from farms nearby, the company “work to improve the quality of life, and promote the social integration, of people with intellectual disabilities and/or severe mental disorders as well as other groups in vulnerable situations in La Garrotxa.” - as it is stated in their webpage. There, students and teachers could see the importance of healthy food in healthy environment and the positive policy of employing workers in vulnerable situations. We could also see how they take care of the cows, how these are provided with all their needs, La Fageda has the Welfair™ certificate of animal welfare .
