Week 3

Day 15: 13/12/2023

I started the day at 6.30 in the morning. I got a little nervous in the morning because I couldn't find my sports leggings, but I finally found them.

The first two periods were for Sport. We played basketball and I had a pretty good time. We did passing and shooting drills, and then we did quick games against different teams. I didn't play in the first game because I was on the bench. But in the next one I did, and what a beating Andrea and I gave them. I had a great time in this class.

Then we had Spanish for two hours, which we dedicated to ourselves because they had an exam, and we didn't need to be there.

Then in the last two periods I had Latin, where they had been doing a project in groups. I couldn't help much because it was a Latin text translated into German, and they had to justify why it was translated that way. So I spent the two hours journaling, reading and talking with my partner Lena.

In the afternoon Jula, Andrea and I went for a walk through the Christmas market, we went to the Finnish market, and finally

we saw the historic market. I found everything beautiful and very surprising, since all the work behind it must be enormous. That afternoon I ate a Nutella crepe that was delicious and Andrea, Jula, Masha and I went on a Ferris wheel and for a moment I felt like a little girl again.

When we got home, Jula and I made dinner. It was homemade pizza. Jula's mother had prepared it in the morning and left it to rest until we arrived. We made 3 pizzas, tuna, onion with mushrooms and another that was a mix between a Napolitan pizza and pineapple included.

Then we each went to our room and I fell asleep super quickly.

Day 16: 14/12/2023

On Thursday, I arrived a little late to school because my train was quite late, but I managed to get to Drama class on time. We made some coordination and movement toys, and finally we did a theatrical performance.

Afterwards I had a Spanish class scheduled, but they had an exam, so Mrs. Diez told me to go to her class to see the level of the eighth grade children (2nd of ESO). The first part of the class was boring, and I was reading since they were correcting some exercises and doing oral comprehension. Afterwards, I was able to interfere in the class to help make some dialogues. I was surprised because those children do have a good level of Spanish.

Finally, we had Spanish again, where we gave a presentation and there was a child who was behaving very badly, telling us derogatory things and making comments about why we did that type of presentation if they weren't going to understand anything. At that moment I got very angry because it showed how ungrateful he was and how little respect he had for others. Afterwards, Nora asked us to go to a separate room to help small groups that she was sending to help them with written comprehension tasks.

That day in the afternoon I didn't do anything, except sleep, clean my room and watch Gossip Girl, because I was quite tired and I needed a longer rest.

Then I had some vegan nuggets for dinner that were delicious, I got my clothes ready for the next morning and went to sleep.

Day 17: 15/12/2023

Today I woke up early because I wanted to do something to my hair since it was a little dirty but I didn't have time to wash it in the morning (clean look).

In the first and second periods we had Spanish, where we did an analysis of a song by Aitana about gender violence and we also compared types of violence with the book that the students of this subject had to read (The Movie Teller) . They also did a listening session in which they let us participate to find out their level. The truth was that for me it was very easy and I thought that it would be for the students too, since I saw that they had a good level but I was surprised. On the contrary, it was very difficult for them to do it and only one or two had it all done.

Then we had English, where we had to do a group discussion about a fictitious conflict from the textbook that the students use (7 ways to kill Kylie Jenner). The class was quite fun, I had a good time and I talked a lot with my classmates. In this class we also did something very curious, which was to go to a website from The National Geographc where different photos appeared with people with different skin tones and we had to find ours.

Finally, we had English again. When I say that in this class we always get bored because they don't do anything, it's true. Andrea even fell asleep. I was journaling, reading and talking with our friend Lena.

That afternoon I took a nap and then went to look for a kebab for me and a falafel for my partner for when she gets home from work. My intention was to take a photo of my kebab but I was so hungry that I ate it without thinking and couldn't take the photo hehe :). That night Andrea and I had planned to go out to say goodbye to the nightlife of Hannover and that's how it happened.

We went to Palo again and it was just as crowded as the last time we went. Tonight we met up with some of the guys we became friends with last week, and we talked to them and we laughed a lot. Andrea and I danced a lot and made many more friends. I had a great night tonight because I was super happy and she made my night.

A funny anecdote is that Andrea and I wanted to play foosball and some kids we didn't know also wanted to play, so we decided to join in and play together. What we didn't know was that the table football didn't work and in the end one of the boys ended up losing a euro because of the machine since it got stuck there.

Day 18: 16/12/2023

The funny thing was that Andrea had to get up at 9 in the morning, so we set an alarm and promised to get up at that time. In the end we ended up getting up at 11, when we started to get upset because we were super late for everything. But... we fell asleep again until 1:30 in the afternoon hehe. I was super tired but around 2 in the afternoon I went home. Since I had a long journey, I put on my headphones and turned on the music and almost fell asleep.

When I got home, I spoke to my host mums and explained the night to them. Because I was so tired, I went to take another nap and didn't get up until 7 in the evening. Since I wasn't very hungry, I made myself some toast with Nutella and it was delicious.

I was in my room for two more hours, talking to my mother, finishing the diary and also reading. Then my partner came and told me to go to a birthday party for a friend of his who lived quite close to my house.

The truth is that I had a great time but I don't have any photos of the night since they leave their cell phones away from the party so they can enjoy more, and the truth is that it was like that. We played a game, the name of which I don't remember, which involved hitting a ping-pong ball into a plastic cup. If you got it right on the first try, you could pass the cup to whoever you wanted in the circle, but if you got it right on the first try, you didn't get it, you had a chance to do it again but the glass must go to the person on your left side. The objective of the game is for your glass to end up in the glass of the person next to you, making them have to drink from a glass of beer to continue playing. Since I don't like beer, they gave me Coca-Cola and I was grateful.

In the end, between one thing and another, we arrived home at 3 in the morning and I continued reading a little more until my eyes closed.

Day 19: 17/12/2023

On Sunday Jula and I were very tired and didn't feel like doing anything, we thought about going ice skating and taking a walk around Hannover, but the weather wasn't very helpful and the ice rink was full. So we stayed at home doing the laundry, we made lunch and dinner and I also had time to take a long, relaxing shower.

I didn't do much that day because of my tiredness but I still had a good time with my partner at home and I realized that I didn't need to be away from home all day to have a good time.

That day I decided to try sushi, a type of food that I don't really like but I wanted to give it a chance since Jula's mother had made it herself and it had taken a long time for her to cook it. The truth is that I really liked it and I ate so much that I ended up full but I took a few with me for the next day at school.

Day 20: 18/12/2023

On Monday in the first and second period I sat on some benches with Andrea half asleep because she had an exam in her Spanish class and she didn't need to go and I did not either because my teacher hadn't come. Since we were there, we went to the supermarket before anyone else so as not to have to wait in line.

Then we had English with the teacher who had already commented that I don't like at all. The man himself is nice and he seems like a very good person but that does not understand the fact that he does not know how to be a teacher and does not know how to teach. He spends the lessons talking to students about things that have nothing to do with English. For example, today we were talking about whether our parents control our cell phones since they had to write about it and what they thought about those actions. But on the verge of finishing the activity he started talking about different things with the students. Today at least I did not feel so bored but I continued doing my diary.

Then in the next period we had German, where I did not learn anything since they were doing very complicated things with the language and we had nothing to do with it.

In fifth and sixth period I had drama and Latin. Drama was boring, we were in a classroom doing nothing since the teacher had to give the students the grade reports and in Latin they continued with the project in groups on the justification of the translation of a text so I did not do much either.

I had lunch at the school with Andrea and Jula since I had Sport later and we were in a classroom talking about how our day went and what we thought about our last week. I had some sushi leftovers and a small one-egg French omelette.

Sport was quite fun. We started with a game similar to "Matabolets". Everything was the same as the traditional game. Two teams, one against the other, have to throw balls at each other and if it hits you and falls to the ground, you are dead. In this game, if you were killed, you had to go to the opposite field (as always) but this time you had to get on some benches positioned around the field. It was great fun, we did 3 rounds and my team won two of them. Andrea and I were fighting as a joke since we were on opposing teams. One funny thing that happened is that there was a guy that I've been giving each other glances at throughout my time here and he was on the opposing team. The good thing is that at no time did he want to kill me, and since he was one of the best on his team at killing people, we ended up winning since I, in the three games, was one of the last on the field hehe :)

After school I went with Jula to our trusted café with a friend of hers who is Spanish, from Estepona, and with whom I get along very well. She is very nice and we talked about many things; about the school, the people in Hannover, the clothes, the boys and a thousand other things. Paula, the Spanish girl, has invited us to dinner on Wednesday at a Spanish restaurant accompanied by her Spanish course and I'm really looking forward to it.

After coffee I went home and dinner was already prepared. We had ramen for dinner. I had never tried it and I loved the flavor. In my ramen I put the noodles, the ramen broth, yakisoba sauce, a little scrambled egg, carrots and a little avocado and the truth is that it impressed me.

I went to bed with a full belly.

Day 21: 19/12/2023

In the first two periods I had Spanish, where the only thing I did was help prepare a fashion show with each group that the teacher had created. Let me explain: the class I was in was studying clothing items and everything related to it, so they had to do group work. Some groups had brilliant ideas, like doing a fashion show inspired by their own teachers' clothes, others made seasonal clothes, Christmas clothes, black & white, etc. The truth is that I really liked this class and I had a pretty good time.

Afterwards Andrea and I left school, since we had two free periods as they were taking an exam in music and it was not necessary for us to go. We went first to the supermarket since Andrea was hungry but then the weather didn't help and we decided to stay at the school at our trusty table that has radiators under the seats and is warm. I fell asleep for half an hour.

Then, lastly, we had German and to tell you the truth, I didn't do anything (again) and the truth is that I got quite bored.

In the afternoon I stayed at home, since I was very sleepy and my partner had to work. After eating some macaroni I went to my room and my friend Thomas called me and he was accompanied by Ferran and Gael. We talked for an hour about what was happening in Spain, the school and everything in general. Then I tried to start a new chapter of Gossip Girl but my eyes wouldn't let me as they closed innocently hehe. I set an alarm for 7:30, spoiler: I didn't end up getting up. I ended up getting up at 10pm and having some nuggets for dinner with my partner in her room.

As a result, I couldn't fall asleep until 2 in the morning.
