Day 8: 06/12/2023
Today I got up at 6:30 in the morning because I fell asleep until half an hour longer than expected. By the time I was on the tram, Andrea told me that our Sport class had been cancelled, so I turned around and went back home since it wasn't too far away. I stayed watching Gossip Girl in my bed for another hour because I did not feel sleepy any more and because I didn't have time to do anything else.
Then at 9:50 in the morning I returned to school to take a Spanish class where I was a language assistant. We did an activity where some students in the class had to write the information that the teacher provided about herself and the same with me. This class was quite interesting because I could see and participate in these activities and I really liked it. But the bad thing is that those children behaved quite badly, and it was almost impossible to make it through the entire class without any unforeseen events.
Lastly, I had Latin, where we had to reanalyse another text and translate it, based on a myth, and explain whether we believed that what the protagonist had done was well justified or not. In this class I was not so bored, but it was quite confusing because while they were talking about the myth and what they had translated, I couldn't understand anything. Furthermore, Lena, the friend I made last Friday, did not come, and it was more difficult for me to communicate with someone because her friends were quieter and it was a little uncomfortable.
This afternoon I was alone at home because my partner also had lessons in the afternoon, so I slept, I watched Gossip Girl and I also did a bit of my diary.
I ended up going to sleep at 11 p.m.
Day 9: 07/12/2023
Today I got up at 6:45 in the morning because I didn't hear the cell phone alarm. Andrea did not come to school today, so I was alone all day with my partner and her friends. I started the day with Drama. Today I did not do many things because we went to a classroom, and they prepared a small work of art, I didn't understand anything because it was all in German, but it was quite fun. Afterwards we had a 20-minute break where Andrea and I always go to the supermarket next to the school because it is warm, and we can buy some food, but today was different because Andrea was not there and I stayed with my partner in a classroom. Then I had Spanish, where I had to correct some texts that the children had for homework. They talked about characters that the teacher had given them to describe. Many of them had everything done right, others had not done it and others had something wrong but nothing serious.
Finally, I had Spanish again, and we did a very interesting activity that was to talk about our clothes and what we liked to wear, etc. and this activity had the objective of making the children speak Spanish among themselves.
After school, a friend of Jula's, she and I went to a bar and, since none of us were very hungry, I ordered a Coke and a brownie that was spectacular. We talked a lot about school, we gossiped, we talked about love issues, etc. I had a great time and it was a lot of fun.
After that I went to have a nap for an hour and a half and then continued with my diary because I wasn't going to do much today because my German partner was working… or that's what I had planned.
Day 10: 08/12/2023
Surprise!! I didn't get up from a nap yesterday but I got up today at 7:15 in the morning and I arrived a bit late at school hehe :)))
I started the day with Spanish in the first and second period. It was quite fun because I had my partner with me in class and we talked about everything. I also realized that here in Germany you learn all the verb tenses in Spanish while in Spain you don't, which shocked Andrea and I very much. The German students knew many Spanish verb tenses and when they asked us about them, we had to think about it for a long time.
Then we had English, where we had another debate, but this time it was about whether Kylie Jenner appropriates black culture or if she appreciates it. This time I decided to talk and it was quite fun because lots of interesting things came out.
Finally, we had English again, but this time with a teacher that I don't like at all. Andrea and I continued doing the diary because they had a small “exam” where they had to do an essay on a predetermined topic from the textbook. When we finished school, we went home and I slept for a while, then I continued perfecting my diary and Andrea and I thought of going to a club to party to see what the people of the city were like.
First, I went to Andrea's house to finish getting ready and then at 12 we were at the club where we had planned to go. The problem was that we were not 18 and we did not have an authorisation from our parents. So they didn't let us in, even though we tried many times.
By mere chance of fate, we saw another nightclub downstairs and decided to try to get in. They didn't ask us for ID or identification and Andrea and I were very happy.
We had a great time, we danced a lot, we made a lot of friends and the night was great. We left the club at 4 in the morning and when we left we went to Burger King to buy something to eat. I ate 6 nuggets, with a coke and fries.
We arrived at Andrea's house and I fell asleep fast.
Day 11: 09/12/2023
I got up at approximately at 11 in the morning and stayed talking with Andrea about last night. While we talked, we were adding things that showed that the night we had was magnificent and we were looking forward to repeating it next Friday.
Around 12 I left Andrea's house and around 1pm I arrived home. I was discussing the night with my partner before she went to work. I ate some Bolognese spaghetti and then went to sleep, I was so tired that I slept from 3 to 8 in the evening.
Then my partner's friends started coming to my house to have dinner and spend the night and the truth is that it was quite fun. We ate spaghetti, we talked a lot, we played cards and I learned a new game called "Schwim", where the objective was to get 30 points with 3 cards of the same type of card. And I realized that they love beer, hehe.
The new friends I made left around 3 in the morning and since I was not sleepy, I started watching Gossip Girl.
To my surprise, about an hour later, my partner sent me a message telling me to go down to the second floor. Many of her friends and new people I didn't know were there. I stayed talking with them until 5 in the morning, hehe.
And then I went to my room and fell asleep super quickly because I was very sleepy and tired.
Day 12: 10/12/2023
I got up very late, at 1pm in the afternoon. Since my partner had to go to work, she made me a tuna pizza, my favourite, for breakfast and lunch at the same time. I ate the tuna pizza while watching Gossip Girl.
Since I couldn't do much that day due to the bad weather and because I was very tired, in the afternoon I did my homework, I wrote my diary, I also tidied my room and I also put on the washing machine.
When I finished doing all that, I went to bed and fell asleep.
Day 13: 11/12/2023
I don't know what happened to me yesterday, probably the fact that I was very tired, I forgot to set the alarm and I got up at 7 in the morning. I ran to change my clothes, have breakfast and then I headed to the school.
In the first and second periods, I had Spanish with 6th grade of primary school. Today I was not able to do much more than just help the children with some grammatical or oral things since they were preparing for the next exam they were having.
In the third period we had English, where our teacher didn't come, so I continued doing the diary.
In the fourth period we had German where I continued doing my diary because it was impossible to participate in this type of classes since I don't understand anything, and it is very difficult for me to participate.
Then we had drama, today did not do much. We tidied some things from the stage, played stop-and-go games, and talked about what we thought of the class.
Lastly, I had Latin, where we analysed another text and also translated it. We finished the class discussing the topic the text was talking about.
When classes were over, Andrea, Jula and I went to the supermarket looking for something to eat since we had Sport later.
At sport time I helped Andrea to score her physical test and also at the end of the class we did a few touches with a volley ball.
When we finished the sports class, we went to the café the last time I went with Jula, where her partner and a friend of hers were. I ate a chocolate cake accompanied by a Coca-Cola. After we finished eating, we went to her father's house to meet her other siblings. I was quite nervous because I didn't know how to communicate with them, but they were very good people and helped me with my German. We had dinner at her father's house and the food was based on toasted bread, cheese and cold meat. For example, I had some toasted bread with salami, apple, pear, etc. for dinner. It was quite delicious and I left his house very full, hehe.
When I got home I finished writing today's diary, I called my best friend Aina and I also talked for a while with Clara, another of my best friends.
In the end, I ended up falling asleep around 11 pm.
Day 14: 12/12/2023
I started the day at 6.30 in the morning (I didn't sleep well that night), I had some toast with Serrano ham for lunch and I went to school.
In the first two class periods, I had Spanish, where they have been practising for their next Spanish exam that they have on Thursday. They have done some exercises talking about clothes, time and modal verbs. Children in this class know how to do everything quite well, but they make a lot of mistakes with articles and singulars and plurals.
Afterwards we had music for two hours, but the class was cancelled, so we went to a café quite close to the school, where I drank an orange juice and Andrea let me eat some of her brownie.
We arrived a little late for our fifth class because the tram didn't arrive and to make matters worse it stopped for 5 minutes on the road. In German class, we continued with the diary because it is too difficult for us to understand everything that is going on.
When I got to class after school, I ate some macaroni with tomato sauce that was delicious while watching Gossip Girl.
Then I went to sleep and got up at 6.30, I continued with the diary, I organized my clothes and put them in piles, so I could wash them by colour.
I didn't want to have anything for dinner because I wasn't very hungry, but when my German host mother arrived, we were talking for a long time and I made myself some toast with Serrano ham.
After that, I went to sleep.
