Day 15: 13/12/2023
This morning, I woke up at 6:40 a.m. because since today we have Sport, I don't need that much time to get ready in the morning. I have just taken a shower, got dressed, had breakfast, brushed my teeth, picked up my bag and then leave to catch the train at 7:30 a.m. Today was spitting, so I have been wearing my raincoat too.
Roser was a little late, so I went directly to the gym where they do P.E. class. I was surprised because all the girls in the locker room stayed the first 10 minutes of the lesson, talking there. We have started the lesson sitting on the floor, listening to the teacher, who was explaining the exercise we were going to do. The sport they were practising was basketball, and Roser and I passed the ball to each other while running down the court and shot baskets several times.
This session was 2 hours long, so from the second hour, the class was divided by groups and played like quick games using half of the court. It was a 3 vs 3 play, but since the teacher was done with evaluating the students, all the people were playing just for fun. I have enjoyed that part of the lesson, and Roser and I were laughing a lot. We have been rotating the players, some of them were resting and others playing.
Afterwards, we had a break in which we went to the supermarket to buy some snacks.
That 20 minutes had run out, and then we two had a 2 hours free period because we were supposed to be at Spanish, but they were taking an exam, so the teacher told us we didn't need to be there. Our decision was to sit at a table because we had the heating next to us, and we could work on the diary while keeping ourselves warm.
For the last period, I stayed in the same class as Antonia, and we had Spanish. We have watched the short film we couldn't finish during last session, and then talked about it. The last hour, they had to complete like a worksheet with questions related to the video, and later on, when the end of school bell rang, I met Roser downstairs and then caught the train back home.
At home, Antonia was cooking something for lunch that I didn't like. She was doing like a soup, with lentils and some vegetables, and has also added seasoning. When she was tasting it, she said it tasted similar to Indian food. For me, I boiled some spaghetti, but without any sauce because they had run out of pesto.
After having lunch, I have spent 15 minutes on my phone, and then taken a quick nap. In the afternoon, at half past five, I met Jula, Masha and Roser in the city centre, and we have walked through the Christmas market. At the beginning, we were looking for some little gift for our family and friends, and Roser bought a ring. Then we moved to a medieval market, in which I get amazed by the environment and the people there. The market stalls were looking perfect, and they were matching the vibe in the air. The best thing was that this second market was really close to the Christmas one, so it was just like five minutes away walking.
We have walked around it, and then got back to the first one. There, Roser has bought a Nutella crêpe, but I couldn't eat one because I didn't have cash with me. We have seen many booths, and they differentiated themselves by the things they sold. There were selling food, jewellery, handmade kitchen tools, handmade wallets, souvenirs, handmade accessories (scarves, hats, and gloves)…
Walking and walking, we have found a merry-go-round, and the four of us wanted to ride it. That's why we did it, even if we looked like little girls, but I didn't care at all because we were having fun together.
The ride was cool, and before leaving and going back home, we entered a Christmas shop, where one could find endless Christmas decorations, for the tree and for putting them up at home. We didn't buy anything because it was expensive, so we simply left.
On our way to the train station, we smelled like 'Schmalzkuchen', and Jula has bought a medium portion for us, which was delicious, as always.
Finally, we have arrived at the train station, and we caught the train back home by 7:30 p.m., and a quarter of an hour later I got home.
I was tired and hungry, so I have asked Antonia if it was okay to have dinner at that time. She said it was no problem, so I have fried an egg and toasted two slices of bread.
For the rest of the day, I have just sat on my bed and write the diary and improved the days I had written on week 1.
I like to write the diary because thanks to that, I'll always remember each day I'm spending here. It has been helping me to learn more English expressions and vocabulary as well. But, on the other hand, it takes me really long to explain all the things I'm doing here. That's why, sometimes, it becomes a stressful task.
Anyway, I ended my day by brushing my teeth, putting on my pyjamas, and as every night, packing my things for tomorrow.
I finally went to sleep by 10:30 p.m.
Day 16: 14/12/2023
I don't know why, but this night I slept a little badly because I woke up in the middle of the night, without a reason. It has been difficult for me to go back to sleep, but after quite a long time, I did it.
At 6:40, I got up, but this time to go to school. In the morning, I have taken a shower firstly. Next, I have got dressed, had breakfast, brushed my teeth, and finally made myself a ponytail and then a braid. I had to hurry up a little because even if I wasn't late, I have left a couple of minutes later than usually.
Luckily, the train at the station was on time. So I arrived punctual at 8 a.m. and our first period was Drama. Two hours of that subject sounded too long for me, I tried to go in a good mood, though.
We started by doing some coordination and movement exercises, changing the tempos, being creative with postures, etc. After relaxing our bodies with that activity, we divided the class into two different groups. Both groups were given a paper with a text in it, and there was an external person who was reading the narrator's part. One group was 'Herr' and the other was 'Wir'. So for every sentence, the group had to think of an original movement, in which you could change tone of voice, expressions with the body, the form of group formation… And the task was to show the coordinated movement to the class while reading the paper.
At last, rang the break bell, and Roser and I went to the supermarket to buy something for eating. I bought an Oreo donut, which was delicious and cheaper than I had thought.
Next class I was supposed to be in Maths, but they were writing an exam and the teacher told me it wasn't necessary for me to be there. So I went to the same place as yesterday, I have sat in a table next to the heating. I have used that 2 free hours to write the diary and organize the information I have been receiving from Spain about what are they doing at school.
Lastly, we had Spanish lesson in 7th grade. The teacher has asked us to do the presentation about our school and the Erasmus. I can't remember how many times have I presented that PowerPoint already, but a lot, for sure. After fixing some technic issues, we finally were able to show it, but now instead of that problems, we had another one. And was the behaviour of one of the students in the class. He was boycotting the lesson because of his constant comments, and his bad attitude to learn. He was asking, loudly, what was the point of being there and listening to us if he could not understand anything. At the end, the teacher expelled him from class. The rest of the kids, were showing interest to what we were saying, and even if they haven't understood most of the things, they still have tried it and asked questions.
For the last hour of that session, the teacher has proposed to us to go to another room and help the children in small groups with the reading comprehensions. I have liked that part, since helping them makes me feel good.
Once the school ended, I went back home by train, and when I arrived, I cooked myself something for lunch because the family was not there and Antonia had to go to work as a swimming coach. I know I have been eating the same for some days, but it's a quite difficult for me since they don't have a lot of food in the fridge and, furthermore, they are vegetarians. So I have boiled some spaghetti and added pesto sauce.
After a while, Antonia has come back, and she has baked some biscuits, and I have decided to help her because she was worried about being late. The thing is, this afternoon we were going to a Christmas meeting with the girls of her Volleyball's team. And since everyone was bringing something for eating with themselves, our idea was to bake biscuits. The plan they had talked about was to go there, paint some Christmas balls, and have a nice time while drinking 'Glühwein' or 'Kinderpunsch', and, then, the Secret Santa that had been organized would take place.
All happened just like that, and it was a great afternoon. When we arrived, the first that shocked me, was the people there.
