Technology and Our Children

Children growing up today is vastly different than generations past. Technology is developing so rapidly, it is difficult for parents to keep up with its challenges, dangers, as well as, its benefits.

Video gaming, YouTube watching, and App downloading are increasingly prevalent at younger and younger ages. Below is some information I hope you find helpful as you navigate the morphing digital landscape.

Helpful Tips:

  • Check age ratings on video games your children are playing.
  • Limit time your children have access to electronic devices.
  • Keep electronic devices and gaming consoles in a central location where you can monitor activity.
  • Teach your children about the dangers of “playing” with virtual strangers.
  • Teach your children to never give out any personal and identifying information to ANYONE.
  • Be aware that some Apps and Games have additional “mods” that can be downloaded within the game that will change the material children are exposed to.
