Outdoor Lab

HSC IS GOING TO OUTDOOR LAB!!!

Outdoor Lab Information:

• Outdoor Lab is held at, but NOT affiliated with IdRaHaJe
• Student's must be 11 years and older (TA's are welcome!) and must be a current HSC student.
• We will attend September 30th @ 9:30am through October 2nd @ 1:00pm
• Transportation will not be provided, parents will need to drop off and pick up at IdRaHaJe
• The cost will be $170 per student
• We will have our district provided RN Audrey Klein available at the site
• We will have space for parent volunteers

Outdoor Lab is NOT a requirement for students, just an option. We are really excited about adding this to our program, please stop by or email Ms Chelsea (cminshull@wwahomeschool.org) with any questions!

October Count

October Count is a two week period where HSC attendance data is collected by the state. HSC receives funding based off this data. We love being able to provide your children with quality teachers, classes, and materials. The funding we receive is the ONLY reason we are able to do that, so it’s imperative that your student is present at HSC during this time.

This year’s October Count is September 25th until October 9th. Your student is required to be in attendance on your HSC days during this window. HSC reserves the right to withdraw your student from the program if a student misses more than one day during this window. For additional questions please email enrollment@wwahomeschool.org.

If Absent

We know our families love to travel, and we support that fully; but we ask that you not schedule any major trips during this time. In the event of an unplanned absence (kids will inevitably get sick), or a previously planned trip before enrolling please email attendance@wwahomeschool.org with the following information:

• The student(s) full name
• The date of absence
• The reason for the absence
• Proof of absence (this is REQUIRED, no exceptions can be made)

Safety Month

September is Safety Month here at HSC. Each week our teachers will be reviewing part of the Standard Response Protocol with students. At the end of the month we'll be practicing Lockdown Drills, you will be notified prior to the drill. We will also be practicing Fire Drills throughout the year.

The Home School Connection conducts Emergency Drills every year. While these drills may not fall on the day that your child attends, it is important that your child is prepared. We ask that you please review the Standard Response Protocol with your child prior to coming to school so that when we discuss these procedures with the class they already have some prior knowledge. If there is ever an emergency, you will be notified through School Messenger. The ONLY way to ensure you will receive these messages is to log into JeffCo Connect, verify your information, and make sure you have selected the appropriate notification boxes.

As always, we value the trust you place in us every week!

Our number one priority is your child's safety while they are here at HSC. While we know these conversations can be difficult to have they are necessary. Please let us know if you would like any helpful tips on how to talk to your child or if you have any questions.

Fees & Registration

Fees will be available online to view and pay beginning Monday, September 9th. All fees are due by Friday, September 27th. Fees can be paid online through your Jeffco Connect account, or by check in person.

If you have not completed the Health Form as part of the Registration packet, please do so IMMEDIATELY.

Morning Drop Off & Afternoon Pick-up

Drop Off Procedure

• Doors open 10 minutes before class
• Parents are welcome to come inside and walk their student(s) to their first period class or drop off at the front door
• Students can grab their lanyard and put their lunch in their assigned bucket located at the front entrance
• Students are welcome to bring a water bottle & first period snack to class
• Students line up outside of classroom doors, please be on time so that teachers can take attendance and begin class
• Doors will be locked 10 minutes after 1st Period has begun
• If you arrive late, please check in with Ms Antoinette at the front desk before heading to class, this ensures that every student is accounted for

USE EXTREME CAUTION IN THE PARKING LOT - WE ALL HAVE TO WORK TOGETHER TO KEEP EVERY CHILD AND EVERY FAMILY SAFE!!!

Pick Up Procedure

• We offer both a walk-up and a drive-through option for afternoon pickup. We encourage families to do whatever works best for them.
• Pickup times vary by day/location:
  • Lakewood Mondays & Fridays - 2:50pm
  • Westminster Tuesdays & Wednesdays - 2:55pm
  • Evergreen Thursdays - 3:20pm
• Parents should pick up within 10 minutes of dismissal time. Please be prompt as we only rent the churches for a small amount of time after dismissal, and please keep in mind that staff have kids and families that they are excited to get home too after a wonderful day with your kiddos!
• It is helpful to find a buddy at school who can hang out with your kids on the playground if you are running late, they must be added to Jeffco Connect pick-up list otherwise we cannot release your student(s) to them.
• If someone new is picking up your student please email attendance@wwahomeschool.org
• Parents and emergency contacts will be called if you are more than 15 minutes late.
• If the teacher does not know the person who is picking up, they may ask for ID (so please warn those on your pick up list).

Late Pick Up Policy

Children who are left at the program 20 minutes past dismissal (specific times below) will be charged $1.00 per minute, per child. At this time, we will also begin calling all emergency contacts we have on file. If we cannot reach any contacts and the child is still at the program after an additional 20 minutes (40 minutes past dismissal) the authorities/social services may be notified.

Mondays - Arrival Window: 8.30-8.40am, dismissal: 2.50pm (late charges begin at 3:10pm)

Tuesdays - Arrival Window: 8.25-8.35am, dismissal: 2.55pm (late charges begin at 3:15pm)

Wednesday - Arrival Window: 8.25-8.35am, dismissal: 2.55pm (late charges begin at 3:15pm)

Thursday - Arrival Window: 9.05-9.15am, dismissal: 3.20pm (late charges begin at 3:40pm)

Friday - Arrival Window: 8.30-8.40am, dismissal: 2.50pm (late charges begin at 3:10pm)

*All non-staff (excluding students) must be out of the building within 15 minutes of dismissal

We love to see the community building that happens after school on the playground so after you pick them up, feel free to let your kids hang out and play for a while after school so you can meet and visit with other homeschooling parents!
